DuraVent Model BV DuraCap: the standard cap for a vent above the roof
The DuraVent Model BV DuraCap is the standard cap for a vertical gas vent above the roof. DuraVent requires it on every Model BV vent that ends there. It keeps rain, snow, and debris out. Push it into the top pipe section until the locking clip snaps into place. Choose a 3 to 8 inch diameter to match your vent. Model BV is DuraVent’s Type B gas vent, the double wall pipe that carries the exhaust from a gas furnace, boiler, or water heater out of the house. These appliances use natural draft, meaning warm exhaust rises on its own.
Above the roof, the pipe passes through flashing chosen to match the roof’s slope. A storm collar sits over the flashing, with silicone sealing the collar. The cap sits at least 1 foot above roofs up to 7 in 12, and higher on steeper roofs. Check for ice in cold weather. To remove the cap, pull upward evenly on both sides. Is your home in a windy spot? See the DuraVent Model BV High Wind Cap. The DuraVent Model BV DuraCap ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.
