Detroit Radiant electric patio heaters in this collection come in the ELX and ELD series. You can choose lengths from 24 inch to 60 inch, depending on the series. Start choosing your electric patio heater by checking the seating area and available mounting height. Then compare the elements and light, and check that your building has the power the heater needs.

Meet the Detroit Radiant electric infrared heater

These electric infrared heaters are long bar heaters with glowing quartz elements behind a grille. Choose black powder coated steel or brushed stainless steel. Detroit Radiant Products builds them in Warren, Michigan under the Re-Verber-Ray name, and they give radiant heat like sunshine, warming people and surfaces directly. Browse the maker's gas and electric range, all our electric models or our wider infrared range.

ELX or ELD?

The ELX series comes in 24 inch for a single seat or doorway, 33 inch for seating areas, and 46 inch for a long bar or wide table. Order one, two or three elements to choose the heat level. Ask us before choosing the 46 inch for a home because it needs the kind of power a commercial building has.

The ELD series has two elements side by side, giving more heat per foot than a single element ELX. Choose 24 inch for a small seating area or doorway, or 33 inch for wider seating. The 46 inch suits a wide table or long bar, and 60 inch suits a long bar or bench.

Both series offer medium wave elements. High output gives more heat and mild white light. Standard gives less heat and a softer orange glow with almost no visible light.

Wiring and mounting

For installation, an electrician wires it to the power you pick on the page. It is not a plug in heater, and adjustable ceiling brackets are in the box. Wall brackets are optional, and some models mount as low as 6 feet, but check the manual for your setup. At home, use them outdoors. Explore wall mounted options or compare the maker's gas patio heaters, including box and tube heaters, for a patio with a gas line.

Your questions answered

ELX or ELD: which one should I pick?

Choose the ELX for one, two or three elements in a 24 inch, 33 inch or 46 inch housing. The ELD always has two elements, giving more heat per foot than a single element ELX. It adds a 60 inch option for a long bar or bench.

Can I plug the heater in, or does it need an electrician?

It is not a plug in heater, so an electrician wires it to the power you pick on the page. Adjustable ceiling brackets are in the box, and wall brackets are optional. The 46 inch ELX needs commercial-building power, so ask us before ordering it for a home.

Where can these electric heaters be used?

At home, use them outdoors over a patio, porch, doorway or dock, not inside rooms. The maker also offers them for bars, restaurant patios and warehouses. No gas line or venting is needed. Some Detroit Radiant electric patio heaters mount as low as 6 feet, so check the manual for your size.
