DuraPlus chimney pipe is DuraVent’s triple wall chimney, available here in 6 and 8 inch sizes alongside chimney lengths, route kits, supports, shields and roof finishing parts. These pieces carry a wood stove chimney through the house or up an outside wall. Start with your appliance manual, then choose the route and matching diameter. Your stove pipe connects to the chimney at the ceiling or wall rather than passing through it.

Where DuraPlus fits

This all-fuel chimney is a triple-wall chimney system, with a stainless steel liner inside three walls and insulation plus an air space between them. This class A system needs 2 inches of open clearance to combustibles. The same chimney serves a wood stove, a fireplace, a furnace, a boiler or a water heater, one appliance per chimney, and the stovepipe in the room stops at the ceiling support box or wall thimble. Choose 6 or 8 inch sizes with galvanized or stainless outer walls, using stainless for weather exposure. Browse triple wall chimney pipe or compare insulated double wall chimney. Below the chimney, use matching adapters with DuraBlack single wall connectors or DVL double wall connectors, found through our stove pipe and chimney hub.

Choose a kit by route

Our wood stove chimney kits use 6 inch pipe. The ceiling kit comes with a support box, adapters and roof weather parts, while the through the wall kit includes the wall sleeve, outside supports, tee and cap. You add chimney lengths on the page, and only chimney pipe passes through the wall sleeve. The manufactured home kit includes two 24 inch lengths and requires a listed stove, with DVL added. An elbow kit supplies two elbows and a strap for an offset.

Choose the pieces on their own

Choose ceiling supports for your ceiling shape, an attic insulation shield for each attic, and a firestop between floors without a support box. Match flashing to roof pitch and material, then add a storm collar and a stainless rain cap with a spark arrestor screen. The flue stays hot inside for a strong draft while the outside stays cool. Outside runs use a tee with a cleaning cap, a support bracket and wall straps every 4 feet. A snow splitter is also available.

Check chimney height against your stove manual and local code. The cap must reach 3 feet above the roof opening and 2 feet above anything within 10 feet. Add an extended roof bracket when the chimney stands more than 4 feet above the roof.

Compare the two chimney designs

This triple wall chimney has insulation plus an air space, sits a little wider, and is the line the ready made kits are built on. DuraVent DuraTech is double wall with solid insulation and a slimmer outside for a tight chase. Both are class A chimneys with 2 inches of clearance. The parts of one never fit the other, so use one line for the whole chimney.

Your chimney questions

What is the difference between DuraPlus and DuraTech?

DuraPlus and DuraTech are class A chimneys needing 2 inches of clearance. DuraPlus has three walls with insulation and air space, while DuraTech has two walls with solid insulation and a slimmer outside. The ready made kits are built on the triple wall line, and the parts of the two lines never fit each other.

How durable is DuraPlus, and how long will it last?

The stainless liner sits inside three walls, with galvanized or weather-suited stainless outside. It is tested and listed for continuous wood-fire use. Fuel, stove operation, sweeping and cap-screen cleaning affect lifespan, so no fixed number of years applies. Through us, the full manufacturer warranty applies.

Is DuraPlus class A chimney pipe?

Yes, it is an all-fuel class A chimney for wood, coal, oil or gas. It can pass through ceilings, attics and roofs with 2 inches of clearance to combustibles. Stove pipe stops at the ceiling support box or wall thimble, where you transition to DuraPlus.
