Finnmark Designs FD-2: a two person indoor infrared sauna on a standard outlet
The Finnmark Designs FD-2 is a two person indoor infrared sauna. Full spectrum means it mixes two kinds of infrared heaters, carbon panels for gentle all over warmth and Spectrum Plus heaters for stronger direct heat. Red light lamps in the ceiling add a warm glow. The outside is thermo-aspen, which is aspen baked in a kiln so it will not warp or rot. The inside is Western Canadian cedar, a smooth wood that resists mold. Two people sit side by side on the bench across the back. A full glass door lets in light. It takes up about 48 by 44 inches of floor space, so it fits a spare room, a basement, or a garage.
It plugs into a standard 120 volt household outlet, so no electrician is needed. The room warms to 170 degrees in about an hour. Inside you get a touchscreen control panel with Bluetooth and speakers, and adjustable feet for an uneven floor. It comes as a kit of finished panels that screw together. On the page you can add a waterproof cover, a two person vinyl seat cushion, a cedar backrest, a headrest, and wood wax or oil. Need room for four? See the Finnmark Designs FD-3 infrared sauna. The Finnmark Designs FD-2 ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.

I enjoy my FD2 Sauna with Red Light, Infrared and radiant heat. Use it 5x a week and my post workout soreness is minimal and sleep great. Maya at Norse Steam was excellent to work with.

Great Sauna & Purchase Experience
Great experience purchasing Finnmark FD-2 from Norse Steam. Good communication and easy to assemble. Temperature increases quickly (30 minutes or less to 140) and maintains well. So far this has been a great purchase.

FAQ
Will two adults fit comfortably?
Yes. The interior is 44 in wide, 40 in deep and 70 in tall, about 70 cubic feet, with a bench across the back for two people side by side and an ergonomic backrest. The tempered glass door opening is 23.6 in wide. If you want more padding, the FD-2 two-person marine vinyl cushion, a cedar S-shape backrest and a wooden headrest are offered in the Recommended Add-Ons selector on this page.
Does the FD-2 need special wiring?
No. It plugs into an ordinary three-prong 120 V, 15 A outlet with a NEMA 5-15P plug and draws 1,750 W. The manual calls for a properly grounded outlet, no extension cords, and no overloading the circuit with other appliances, and recommends a GFCI in any potentially wet location. That makes it one of the easier two-person cabins to place in a spare room, basement or garage.
How long does a two-person infrared sauna take to reach temperature?
The manual’s warm-up table lists 55 to 60 minutes for the 2-3 person model to hit its 170 F maximum, and suggests 15 to 20 minutes of preheat before you step in for a comfortable session. Warm-up varies with the room temperature and airflow around the cabin. On first use the manual recommends running it at maximum temperature for an hour two or three times to burn off factory dust.
What is included, and what is extra?
The Includes tab lists the full panel kit with glass door, bench, infrared heater panels, Spectrum LED ceiling lights with red-light therapy, the Controller 2.0 LCD touchscreen with Bluetooth, 6 in HiFi speakers, power supply, cables, screws, door handle and adjustable feet. The waterproof cover, seat cushion, backrest, headrest and wood-care products are optional and appear in the selectors on this page with their prices.
Is a garage or basement an OK location?
Yes, as long as it is dry. The manual names basements, garages, spare bedrooms and attics as suitable spots, but says not to use the sauna near water such as a wet basement, bathtub or pool. Put it on a solid, level surface with 3 inches of clearance on top and all sides. Outdoors it must sit under an overhang on hard dry ground with the cover fitted, or the warranty is void.
How do I clean and maintain the cedar interior?
Wipe the inside with a damp cloth, and unplug the sauna first; the manual says not to use liquid or aerosol cleaners inside. Use towels on the bench and floor during sessions and remove them afterward, and light sanding removes stains or scratches. A furniture polish or beeswax protects the exterior. Browse our full range of infrared saunas if you are comparing sizes.
Is infrared the same thing as red light therapy?
No. The infrared heat comes from the Spectrum Carbon 360 and UL-listed Spectrum Plus heater panels, which warm your body directly. Red light is separate: the ceiling has Spectrum LED near-infrared lights with a medical-grade red-light mode, and the manual says you select the red button on the controller to run it during a session. You can use either on its own or both together.
