An outdoor griddle and a flat top grill are two names for the same appliance: a flat steel cooking plate heated from below instead of grates over a flame. Food rests on the whole cooking surface, so small vegetables stay put and smash burgers develop an edge-to-edge crust. Here you can browse our full griddle range and a few accessories. Start with your fuel supply, then choose a size and decide whether it belongs in an island or on a cart.

Choose by Fuel

Choose a propane griddle for a tank or a natural gas griddle for your house gas line. Every gas griddle here can be ordered for either fuel; select yours at checkout. Our electric griddles plug into 120-volt outlets and are rated for indoor use too. Several gas models also need an outlet for lighting and ignition, so check before choosing.

Choose by Where It Goes

A built-in griddle drops into a cutout in your outdoor kitchen island. Check the cutout measurements, not just the plate width. A wood or composite island needs an insulating liner. For a freestanding station, explore the griddle cart option. The griddle is ordered separately, so check that the cart matches the unit you choose.

Choose the Size

The 15- and 16-inch gas plates have one burner. Most of the range is 30 inches wide with two burners, while 41-inch plates have three. Each burner has its own knob. On a 30-inch or wider gas plate, you can create two zones: a hot side for searing and a cooler side for eggs or holding food between batches.

FAQ

Is a flat top grill better than a regular grill?

Neither is better; they do different jobs. A regular grill gives flame-kissed sear marks and smoke. A griddle gives a full-contact crust, holds small or delicate food and handles breakfast. Many outdoor kitchens have both.

What can you cook on an outdoor griddle?

Cook smash burgers, bacon and eggs, pancakes, fried rice, fajitas, vegetables, fish, shrimp or steaks. With two heat zones, you can sear on the hot side while eggs cook gently on the other.

How do you clean a flat top grill?

While the plate is warm, scrape debris toward the grease tray. Add a splash of water, scrape again and wipe. Empty the pull-out tray, then wipe a thin coat of oil onto the plate. Avoid chlorine cleaners on stainless steel.

Do I need to season a stainless steel griddle?

A light seasoning helps food release on your outdoor griddle. Before the first cook, wipe on high-heat oil and preheat on high for about 15 minutes. Oil lightly after cleaning. Stainless plates do not rust the way bare-steel tops can.
