This collection holds the Muscle, the grill many people know as the American Muscle Grill, in 36 and 54 inch sizes, built in or on a rolling cart, plus matching double side and power burners. These grills are made in the USA from heavy stainless steel by a family owned company on Long Island, New York, and they are built for outdoor cooking over gas, charcoal and wood. The maker shares its roots with Summerset, whose grills have their own page on our store.

How the Muscle hybrid grill works

A hood styled after a Mustang muscle car sets the Muscle apart. It is a full gas grill that also burns lump charcoal or hardwood chunks. Its multi-fuel tray system holds charcoal or hardwood in stainless steel trays under the grates. You can cook over gas, solid fuel or both at once. Hood vents control air to the fire, as on other hybrid grills.

What comes with the Muscle

The 36 has five stainless steel burners and about eleven hundred square inches of cooking space. The 54 has eight burners and about seventeen hundred square inches. The grill uses the maker's flame thrower ignition: you turn the knob and a jet of flame lights the burner. The thick V-shaped grates flip over, with lifting tools included for moving them hot. An infrared back burner runs the included rotisserie.

A drop-in infrared sear burner, griddle plate, leather gloves, care kit and grill-head cover come in the box. Gas on one side and coals on the other give you two cooking zones. Like other built-in grills, this version slides into an outdoor kitchen island cutout. The cart version joins our freestanding grills and comes fully assembled on locking wheels, with a divided charcoal-and-wood drawer and a whole-cart cover.

The Muscle beside the Encore

The Encore line has a traditional hood rather than the Muscle's car-inspired shape. Both AMG hybrid lines share burners, trays, grates and box contents in the same two sizes. For matching side and power burners, choose two open burners under a lid or a larger burner with inner and outer rings for a stock pot or wok.

Your questions answered

Is the Muscle the same as the American Muscle Grill?

Yes, the Muscle is the grill previously sold under that name, which also gave it the AMG initials. Its hood was modeled after the 1966 Mustang Shelby GT 350. Today, it is the Muscle line of American Made Grills, in 36 and 54 inches.

What fuels can the Muscle run on?

You choose natural gas or propane on the product page. Stainless steel trays under the grates hold charcoal or wood, used alone or alongside gas. Hood vents feed air to the fire or choke it down. A starter kit of wood and charcoal comes in the box.

Muscle 36 or 54: how big should I go?

The 36 has five burners and about eleven hundred square inches for family and guests. The 54 has eight burners and about seventeen hundred square inches for crowds or separate gas and charcoal zones. Both come built in or on a cart. Choose your Muscle grill around those needs.
