This DuraChimney II collection holds fireplace chimney pipe, anchor plates, elbows, shields, supports, roof coverings, caps and size-specific kit builders. This air cooled chimney goes above a fireplace, not above a wood stove. You can choose double wall chimney pipe in 8, 10, 12, 14 or 16 inch sizes. The pipe is made to order for wood, oil, coal or gas fireplaces. Start with your fireplace model and the route from its smoke outlet to the roof.

How DuraChimney II is built

This air-cooled chimney has a stainless steel inner wall and a galvanized steel outer wall, with air between them to cool the outside and maintain draft. The chimney is tested and listed for continuous operation with a wood fire and is built to protect both the chimney and the building. It serves a masonry fireplace or a factory built fireplace whose maker lists this line. Browse our wood burning fireplaces and check the model requirements. The pieces are made to order and cannot be returned. For large fireplaces requiring insulated chimney, see DuraTech 10 to 24 inch.

From the anchor plate to the cap

An anchor plate sits over the fireplace flue outlet to start the run, with a damper option for 10 to 16 inch sizes. Keep the chimney straight where possible, using supported 15 or 30 degree elbows for offsets. Firestops close floor openings, while attic insulation shields keep insulation away and roof radiation shields line roof openings.

Choose a chase top or, for 8 inch pipe through a roof, roof flashing with a storm collar. Wall straps steady the run, while supplementary supports carry weight above 50 feet. Finish with a chimney cap, or choose a copper pot adapter for a compatible pot. A snow splitter directs sliding snow around the chimney. Each size has a kit builder page for choosing the chimney components together.

Not for a wood stove

A wood stove uses stovepipe inside the room and an insulated all-fuel chimney through the house, and DuraChimney II is not that chimney. See DuraTech 5 to 8 inch and our Class A chimney collection for insulated options. Our stove pipe and chimney hub covers wood stove pipe types, while wood stove pipe kits group parts by route.

Common questions

What is DuraChimney II?

It is DuraVent's air-cooled, double-wall fireplace chimney in 8 to 16 inch sizes. Air between its stainless inner wall and galvanized outer wall cools the outside and keeps the draft hot. It serves suitable fireplaces burning wood, oil, coal or gas.

Which fireplaces can use DuraChimney II?

It fits masonry fireplaces or factory-built fireplaces whose makers specifically list this line for the model. Each chimney serves one fireplace. Keep the run as straight as possible, with no turn above 30 degrees. A wood stove uses DuraTech or DuraPlus instead.

How do I choose the right chimney cap size?

Match the cap to the chimney diameter. The 8 inch family takes an 8 inch cap, while one cap fits 10 to 16 inch pipe. DuraChimney II requires a spark-screen cap even under a shroud, unless you use a copper pot adapter.
