Our electric sauna heaters collection brings together every electric model we carry from Harvia, HUUM and Saunum, plus Saunum AirSolo devices that mix the air beside an existing heater. You can choose a wall-mounted heater to keep the floor clear or a floor standing heater with more room for stones. Sizes run from 3.5 kW for very small rooms to 20 kW for gyms and spas. Start with your room measurements, then compare the shape, control and package contents to find the right heater for your sauna.

How to choose an electric sauna heater

Measure the room length, width and height in feet, then multiply them to get cubic feet. Match that figure to the room range on the listing, using 6 kW or 9 kW as a size label. Our guide to choosing a heater size walks you through this step. Among our electric heaters, the wall models cover about 100 to 530 cubic feet, while the floor models reach about 1240 cubic feet.

Next, consider where the heater will sit in your home sauna. A wall bracket keeps the floor clear, while a floor pillar offers more stone capacity. Our Sauna Heaters collection brings electric, wood and propane together. Visit the complete sauna and heater collection if you are choosing the room too.

Wall heaters for smaller rooms

For compact rooms, the KIP wall heaters suit one to four people, while The Wall heaters, which are only 10 inches deep, suit rooms of 141 to 423 cubic feet. For visible stones, the curved Spirit range covers 177 to 494 cubic feet, and the rounded Drop heaters cover 106 to 530 cubic feet. For very small rooms, the narrow Cliff Mini and the shallow Steel Mini are 3.5 kW wall columns. Both suit rooms of 123 to 212 cubic feet.

Floor heaters with room for more stones

For rooms up to about 635 cubic feet, compare the round Cilindro pillar and the Virta column range. Water on the side of the Cilindro makes gentle steam, while water on top makes it sharper. The Virta Combi adds a steamer, and the Virta Pro serves commercial saunas. For larger rooms used all day, the stainless steel Club heaters cover 388 to 989 cubic feet.

For rooms of 176 to 600 cubic feet, the Cliff floor columns have removable front ribs, while the plain Steel columns hold 331 pounds of stones. For round bodies, compare the smaller Hive Mini range and the larger Hive range. The Hive Mini reaches 706 cubic feet and the Hive reaches about 1240 cubic feet.

Saunum and even heat

The Air heaters mix warmer ceiling air with cooler air near the floor, releasing the blend low in the room. This brings warmth to the lower bench and softens the steam during your sauna session. The Saunum heaters and climate devices collection includes heaters for rooms of 106 to 812 cubic feet.

The AirSolo does the same air mixing beside a heater you already own. It makes no heat and plugs into a standard household outlet. Choose between two wall hung heights and an in-wall version.

Controls, stones and packages

A Harvia electric sauna heater may have built-in knobs or a dial for temperature and the timer. Other models need a Xenio wall control outside the hot room. Every heater in the HUUM heater collection uses a UKU control, with Wi-Fi among the choices. The Saunum Air uses the AirIQ Wi-Fi control.

The sauna stones sit directly on the heating elements, and you ladle water over them for steam, or löyly, as part of the Finnish sauna experience. With a bare electric heater, you add the required boxes of stones on the page. HUUM packages include the heater, control, sensors, cables and full stone load, while Saunum packages also include a full load. Each heater needs its own circuit, wired by a licensed electrician. Where offered, you pick the home or commercial power supply on the page.

Options without wiring, and the rest of your sauna

For a room away from power, consider a wood-burning heater. Our propane heaters for sauna tents offer another route. If you are choosing an electric sauna stove alongside a room, browse complete traditional saunas and sauna kits. Finish with buckets, ladles and thermometers from our sauna accessories collection.

Your heater questions

Are electric sauna heaters any good?

Yes, these are traditional heaters with stones directly on the heating elements. You ladle water over the stones for steam. Heat starts from a dial, wall control or compatible phone app, without firewood or a chimney. Sizes cover very small rooms through club rooms.

What size electric sauna heater do I need?

Multiply length, width and height in feet to find cubic feet. Choose the listing range covering that volume, with kW as the size label. Wall heaters cover about 100 to 530 cubic feet, and floor heaters reach about 1240. Some Saunum sizes also need minimum ceiling heights, so check those.

Do electric sauna heaters need a special power supply?

Each needs its own circuit, wired by a licensed electrician. Where offered, you pick the home or commercial power supply on the page. The largest commercial heater requires commercial power, so check your building supply. Only the AirSolo climate device plugs into a standard household outlet.

Is an electric heater hard to install?

The heater hangs on a bracket or stands on the floor. It needs its own circuit, wired by a licensed electrician. Follow the manual for distances, sensors and the control outside the hot room. Owners who have wired one report a standard installation and clear instructions for the spacing and the sensors.

Does a large window change the heater size I need?

Yes, glass lets out more heat than an insulated wall. Our sizing guide notes that leaving large windows or glass doors out of the sum can leave you with an undersized heater. Owners count some extra room volume for a big window. If that puts the room near the top of a heater's range, choose the next size up. Call us with the room measurements and the size of the glass.

Does the heater need a separate control?

Some Harvia heaters have built-in controls, while others need Xenio, with a Combi version for the steamer. HUUM uses UKU, and Saunum Air heaters use AirIQ. These separate controls mount outside the hot room. Add the required control on the page or choose a package that includes it.

Can I turn my sauna on from my phone?

Yes. An electric sauna heater from HUUM with the Wi-Fi version of the UKU control starts from the HUUM app, and you can schedule a start up to 48 hours ahead. Saunum AirIQ offers phone starts, three stored settings and a weekly schedule. Some Harvia heaters offer delayed starts up to 8 hours, set on the heater.
