An outdoor gas fire pit gives you a real flame without tending a log fire. We have hundreds of gas pits, fire tables, bowls and pillars for your patio, deck or backyard. Start with the fuel connection, then choose how you want to gather around the heat. A table gives drinks a place to sit, while a low bowl keeps the focus on the flame. Sizes range from 12 to 72 inches across, with linear designs stretching to 120 inches. Think about the seating and walking room in your outdoor living space before choosing.

Natural gas or propane?

Choose a natural gas fire pit for a fixed spot with a gas line. Once plumbed, it has no tank to hide or refill.

A propane gas fire pit uses a standard 20 lb tank. You need no gas line and can move it later, but the tank needs refilling.

Want the tank out of sight? Choose a propane tank fire pit from dozens of hidden tank designs with an internal door or compartment.

Tables, bowls, shapes and burner kits

A gas fire pit table puts a ledge for drinks around the flame. Browse propane fire pit tables if you prefer tank fuel. Tables come at coffee, dining and bar height.

Choose a low fire bowl, including fire and water designs, or a round fire pit for a circular layout. Other shapes include square, rectangle and linear. A concrete fire pit gives you a stone-like finish.

What comes with a gas fire pit?

The burner, pan, hose, fittings and lava rock are included. Order for natural gas or propane; the fuel choice sets the fittings and propane regulator. Match lighting is standard, with electronic ignition using a push button optional on most.

Optional extras include fire glass, a wind guard, a cover, a stainless steel lid and a shutoff key valve. Check each design's options before choosing fire media. Materials include glass-fiber reinforced concrete in up to 18 colors, plus metal finishes.

Choose between the brands

The Outdoor Plus fire pits are handmade in the USA in concrete, copper, stainless steel, Corten weathering steel and powder coat finishes. American Fyre Designs fire pits offer cast concrete in seven colors, with Bluetooth phone control on many designs. Grand Canyon Gas Logs adds six concrete bowls. With the Empire Carol Rose gas fire pit, you choose fuel, glass color and controls for a 48- or 60-inch model in an enclosure you build yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Which is better for a fire pit, propane or natural gas?

Choose by whether a gas fitter can run a line to your spot. Natural gas has no tank and never needs refilling. Propane needs no line and allows later moves, but its 20 lb tank needs space and refills. Every unit here offers either fuel.

Can you roast marshmallows on a gas fire pit?

Yes, marshmallows roasted over a gas flame taste the same. Keep sugar and drips off the burner and the glass or lava rock, since sticky drips can clog burner ports. Cooking other food over the burner is not recommended for the same reason.

Can you use a gas fire pit under a covered patio or on a deck?

Most gas units can sit on a deck because the flame is contained above it without embers. Check the manual for weight and railing clearances. Under a roof, airflow and overhead clearance decide; a low ceiling will not work. We can review the manual with you.

Are gas fire pits worth it?

If you want weeknight warmth and ambiance, gas makes that easy. It lights in seconds, produces no smoke, no ash and no sparks, and needs no firewood. You can switch it off when you go inside. You give up the crackle and smell of logs.
