Our barrel sauna kits are SaunaLife round rooms for three, four or six people, with plain walls, a rear window or a glass front. You choose the length and how much glass you want for your sauna experience. An outdoor barrel sauna gives you a curved bench along each side for relaxation. If you want an outdoor sauna kit with a rounded shape, start with the rooms below.

What a barrel sauna kit gives you

Each sauna kit is a traditional sauna in a round thermo-spruce room in a flat pack, with spruce baked in a kiln for durability and steel bands holding the staves together. The barrel design leaves less air to heat, with 6 feet 5 inches of headroom. Compare barrel saunas, browse all sauna kits, or explore our saunas and heaters.

Pick a length and a front

The SaunaLife barrel saunas include lengths of about 59 inches for three people, 71 for four and 87 for six, all about 81 inches across. Choose plain, rear window or glass front, natural or black, with black exterior paint supplied to brush on. The wider four person barrel has two rows of benches. Compare three person rooms and four person rooms, or choose flat walls with SaunaLife cubes.

Plan the build, base and heater

Your backyard sauna kit includes staves, bands, benches, door, roof and cradles, and two people build it in about a day. Set the cradles on a firm, level spot that drains. Choose sized electric sauna heater packages with controls and stones on the page, wired on their own circuit by a licensed electrician. Four and six person plain and window barrels can take your own wood burning stove, with chimney parts chosen on the page. Pair it with a plunge, or choose different heat

Pair your round room with a cold plunge. Our outdoor saunas offer other shapes. For different heat indoors, explore Finnmark infrared rooms.

Your questions answered

What is included in a barrel sauna kit?

The box holds staves, steel bands, curved benches, backrests, bronze tinted glass door, shingle roof with rain rail, vents, drains and cradles. White LED light bars, remote, two spare staves and paraffin oil come too. Glass front versions add panels, and black versions add exterior paint for you to apply.

Does a barrel sauna kit include the heater?

The heater is not included. Choose a sized electric package with control and stones, wired on its own circuit by a licensed electrician. Four and six person plain and window barrels accept your own wood burning stove without wiring, with chimney parts chosen on the page.

What do you put under a barrel backyard sauna?

The barrel rests on the included cradles on a firm, level spot that drains. The listings specify no base beyond those cradles, so call us about the right base for your yard. Leave room for the door and roof overhang.

How hot does a barrel sauna kit get in winter?

The SaunaLife listings give no figure. Sized electric packages set maximum temperatures, while wood heat depends on feeding the stove. Thick kiln baked staves and the small round room hold heat. One owner in Canada reports about 165 degrees in winter while getting used to the heat, and says the barrel goes hotter. Check the manual for your model.

How long does it take to build a barrel sauna kit?

The listings say two people build the barrel in about a day. A licensed electrician wires the electric package, or a wood stove goes in with its chimney. Follow the assembly instructions supplied with your barrel sauna kit.
