This collection holds DirectVent Pro 8×11 pipe lengths, elbows, supports, firestops and caps for large fireplaces. This is the largest direct vent size, with an 8 inch exhaust pipe inside an 11 inch air pipe. You assemble a run from matching parts rather than a packaged kit. Check your fireplace manual for the approved vent, run limits and clearances.

Which fireplaces take this size?

The 8 by 11 inch direct vent has stainless steel and galvalume construction, with a durable stainless steel exhaust pipe and an outer wall that brings in outside air. A sealed direct vent gas fireplace does not use warm room air. Large models in lobbies and restaurants, including a linear fireplace, need the appliance maker's approval for this vent. The twist-lock connections lock with a turn, without gaskets or sealants unless the fireplace maker requires them. Adapters to the smaller DirectVent Pro line also need approval.

A wall run or a roof run

Choose lengths of 12, 18, 24, 36 or 48 inches, or adjustable pipe spanning 15 to 22 inches. To calculate the installed length, add up the lengths and subtract 1 5/8 inches for each joint. Use 45 or 90 degree elbows for turns and offsets within the fireplace maker's limits. A wall run rises, turns through a wall thimble or horizontal firestop, and ends at a stainless steel wall cap. Add a standoff for vinyl or uneven siding.

A roof run uses a support plate, ceiling firestops and an attic insulation shield wherever it crosses an attic. Wall straps support the pipe every 4 feet. Match roof flashing to the roof pitch, then add a storm collar and stainless steel roof cap. The installation instructions come in the box with the caps.

Build your run on the kit builder page

DuraVent offers no packaged kit for this size. Choose a length on our kit builder page, then add components. Additions are optional, but your fireplace maker determines what is required.

Your venting questions

Do direct vent fireplaces need a chimney?

No, they use a sealed pipe inside a pipe instead of a chimney. The vent exits through a wall or roof, drawing outside air through the outer pipe. The fireplace maker approves the size and sets run limits and clearances.

Can DirectVent Pro 8x11 run out through a wall behind the fireplace?

Yes, where the fireplace maker allows it. The pipe rises, turns at a 90 degree elbow and passes through a wall thimble to a stainless steel horizontal cap. Use a standoff on vinyl or uneven siding, and follow the manual for distances from windows and doors.

Is there a kit for DirectVent Pro 8x11?

DuraVent does not offer a packaged kit for this size. Our kit builder assembles a run part by part, as your fireplace maker requires. Send us the fireplace model and a sketch of the run and we will write the parts list for DirectVent Pro 8x11.
