Superior gas logs let you choose a fire for the fireplace you already have. Choose a vent-free set for heating the room or a vented set for the look of a wood fire. Most sets let you pick the log size, the fuel, and the burner. For most, the burner is not included. Choose natural gas or propane, except outdoor vented versions, which use natural gas only.

Superior gas log sets for room heat

Superior vent free gas logs run with the damper closed, so nearly all the heat stays in the room. Check your local code first.

Choose concrete logs molded from real wood or ceramic fiber logs that glow orange. Sizes are 18, 24, or 30 inches, with tall versions in 24, 30, or 36 inches. Tall logs stand 19 inches high. Compare two rows of flame over a glowing ember bed, a triple burner with a third row behind the logs, or random flames from a pan burner.

Burner choices include millivolt, which needs no electricity, variable with five flame heights, electronic with a touchscreen remote and thermostat, or manual with a knob. Options vary by set.

Compare ventless sets. The 27-inch set for a fireplace open on more than one side includes its millivolt burner.

Vented sets for the look of wood

Superior vented gas logs come in hand painted weathered oak, charred oak, or white birch. Sizes are 24, 30, or 36 inches. Indoor sets use a hand held remote or, with natural gas, a wall control. Outdoor versions are match lit on a stainless steel burner, with no pilot, no remote, and no electronics. Compare vented logs or all brands of gas fireplace logs.

Which fireplace can you use?

A vent free gas log set fits a wood-burning fireplace, a Superior fireplace built for logs, or a compatible Superior vent free firebox. A vented gas log set needs a wood fireplace with a working chimney and the damper open. Most of the heat goes up the chimney.

Choose outdoor sets for Superior outdoor fireboxes and wood units or another listed outdoor fireplace. Outdoor vent free burners have stainless steel frames and grates for rain and humidity.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best brand of gas logs?

We do not rank brands. Superior offers hand painted oak and birch, concrete and ceramic fiber, and burner and remote choices. You can choose tall logs, a set finished on every side, or outdoor versions. Our logs hub lets you compare other brands.

Can I just replace the logs in my gas fireplace?

If your gas fireplace has its own burner, use the maker's replacement logs for that model. Call us with the model number before ordering. A wood fireplace can take a Superior gas log set with its burner. A Superior vent free firebox takes any Superior vent free set in its size.

Should I buy a gas log set or a gas insert?

Choose logs for an open fire and the look of wood in your old firebox. They are the simpler option to put in. Choose an insert for heating. It is a sealed heater with a glass front, blower, and vent pipe up the chimney. Superior makes both.
