Pellet stove exhaust pipe needs to match your stove, its outlet and the route outside. Here you can choose from DuraVent’s PelletVent Pro and PelletVent lines in 3 and 4 inch sizes, whether you are fitting a pellet insert or replacing an existing vent. We carry straight pipe, adjustable lengths, elbows, clean-out tees, adapters and kits for wall or roof exits. Start with your stove manual, then choose the line, diameter and parts for your run.

How pellet stove venting works

A fan pushes the exhaust out through the wall or up through the roof. Double wall pipe has gasket-sealed joints and is listed for 1 inch clearance to combustibles. It is not wood stove pipe, and pellet stoves do not need class A chimney pipe. See the routes in our pellet stove pipe installation diagram.

Choose between the two lines

PelletVent Pro has 52 parts for most pellet stoves and inserts, including multi-fuel appliances. The older PelletVent line has 24 parts for stoves burning pellets, corn and other biofuels.

Choose a pellet stove pipe kit for your run

The horizontal kit supplies a cap, wall thimble and appliance adapter. Add pellet stove vent pipe lengths separately. Vertical kits suit flat or cathedral ceilings, with the corresponding ceiling support parts, flashing, storm collar, cap and adapter. Fresh air intake kits bring outside air to the stove. Reline kits serve existing chimneys. If you want exhaust and incoming air to share one opening, we have DuraVent CVS concentric vent parts for appliances whose makers approve this system.

Three or four inch?

Most stoves have a 3 inch outlet, but check the manual before choosing 3 inch pellet stove pipe. Long runs or altitude may require a step up to 4 inch with an increaser.

Venting through an existing chimney

A reline kit runs inside a factory-built chimney or old B vent. For masonry, flexible bio-flex pipe and chimney adapters provide the reline. Explore chimney liners for that route.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of pipe does a pellet stove need?

Use 3 or 4 inch double wall vent pipe with gasket-sealed joints, listed for an inch of clearance to combustibles. Never substitute wood stove pipe or class A chimney pipe alone. Follow your stove manual for size and routing.

Can a pellet stove vent straight out through the wall?

Yes. The usual route passes through a wall thimble, with a short rise outside, a clean-out tee and a horizontal cap. Never vent through window glass. For a wall exit beside a window, follow the manual’s required distances from windows, doors and ground.

Can I vent a pellet stove into an existing chimney?

Yes, with a liner. A reline kit carries pellet stove pipe inside a factory-built chimney or old B vent. Flexible bio-flex pipe and adapters reline masonry chimneys. Never discharge directly into the old flue. Follow your stove manual’s routing rules.

Can I use my old wood stove pipe for a pellet stove?

No. Wood stove pipe is usually 6 inch and not sealed. Replace it with 3 or 4 inch gasket-sealed pellet stove pipe for fan-driven exhaust. The existing chimney can carry pellet vent inside it. Follow the stove manual.
