Narvi NC Black: a wood burning sauna stove in three sizes for rooms from 283 to 848 cubic feet
The Narvi NC Black is a floor standing wood burning sauna stove with a simple, timeless look. It comes in three sizes. The NC 16 heats rooms from 283 to 565 cubic feet. The NC 20 heats rooms from 353 to 706 cubic feet. The NC 24 heats rooms from 353 to 848 cubic feet. All three run at 16 to 17 kW; the difference is how much stone they hold and how big a room they heat. Each size holds plenty of stones to keep the heat even. The body is rust resistant steel painted black. Adjustable feet let you level it on an uneven floor. Narvi designs and builds it in Finland.
Pick the size on the page. Wood burning means no wiring: you build a fire in the firebox and the stones on top hold the heat. The firebox is shaped to burn the wood cleanly. It burns logs up to 13 inches long. Ladle water on the stones for steam. It comes with the stove and the manual. Sauna stones are sold separately, so add the boxes your size needs on the page. A chimney is not included, so pick the flue parts and the adapter to 6 inch US pipe on the page. The flue can leave from the back, or from the top with a separate connection pipe. If the stove sits near a wood wall, add Narvi’s protective wall shield or the floor base on the page. Heating a big or commercial sauna? See the Narvi 30/50 wood burning stove. The Narvi NC Black ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.
FAQ
What is the difference between the NC 16, NC 20 and NC 24?
The Kilowatt selector switches between three sizes: NC 16 at 16 kW for 283 to 565 cubic feet with 110 pounds of stones, NC 20 at 16 kW for 353 to 706 cubic feet with 132 pounds, and NC 24 at 17 kW for 353 to 848 cubic feet with 176 pounds. Widths grow from 19.7 to 22.8 inches; all three are 22.8 inches deep.
Can the chimney come off the top?
Yes, top or back per the Specifications tab, but the description notes a separate connection pipe is needed for the top outlet, and the manual says to seal whichever opening is unused. Order the Narvi flue parts and the 4.5 inch Euro to 6 inch USA pipe adapter from the Chimney selector so the stove mates with North American 6 inch pipe.
How much space around the stove?
Keep 48.4 inches front to back on every size and 31.5, 33.1 or 34.6 inches side to side for the NC 16, 20 and 24, with a 79.7 inch minimum ceiling. The manual lets you shorten rear and side distances with Narvi protective wall shields, sold on this page under Safety together with the installation base.
Do I need to buy stones?
The stove arrives without stones. Pick a box on the Required Stones selector that appears for your kilowatt choice; each box is 44 pounds of 4 to 6 inch split-face or rounded Narvi stone, and the minimum fill is 110, 132 or 176 pounds depending on the model. Wash them first and stack the larger ones at the bottom, per the manual.
What makes the fire chamber different?
The description credits a unique fire chamber for more efficient, cleaner combustion. Burn only natural dry logs up to 13 inches long and about 2 inches thick, empty the ash drawer before each heating and have the chimney swept yearly; the manual ties smoky, weak heating to wet wood, dirty stones or a closed ash drawer.
Where is it made and what warranty does it carry?
Designed, engineered and made in Finland, with a 2-year limited warranty listed on the Includes tab. The safety listing shown is CE only, so check local code acceptance before you order. Weights run 159 to 181 pounds bare and up to 357 pounds with stones. Compare it with other sauna heaters by room volume.
