Here you’ll find two full-size gas grills on rolling carts, two small ceramic charcoal grills, and a cart base that turns a compatible built-in gas grill into a grill on wheels. These portable grills suit outdoor cooking around your yard or patio. These are not camping or tailgating grills.

The cart base is not a complete grill. You can choose a ceramic grill on its own or with a stand, with a rolling base available as an add-on.

How to choose a portable grill

If you want a portable gas grill, the cart models have a 48-inch cooking surface, stainless steel burners and a full-width warming rack. You can choose natural gas or propane and compare all gas grills.

For smoky flavor, a portable charcoal grill offers ceramic heat retention. Each kamado grill comes alone or with a stand, side tables and a grate lifter. You'll find larger sizes among our charcoal grills.

The cart base adds drawers, fold-down shelves and a propane tank ring to a compatible grill. Our freestanding grills include more cart-and-stand options. Where gas and charcoal aren't allowed, you can consider plug-in electric grills.

Looking for a smaller grill?

If you're looking for a small portable gas grill for trips, our tabletop grills are the closest category here to camping grills. Compare cooking area and where you'll set your tabletop grill or portable kamado.

Questions we hear most

Gas or charcoal for a portable grill?

Gas on a cart lights in seconds and holds a set heat, and propane models move with the tank. Ceramic charcoal grills give smoky flavor and hold heat for slow cooks, but take longer to light and need ash emptied.

Can I make my built-in grill portable?

Yes, this cart base fits Fire Magic's 30- or 36-inch built-in gas grills from 2024 onward. It adds drawers, side shelves and a propane tank ring. Check your grill's width and model year, or call us and we will talk it through.

What is the difference between a portable grill and a full-size grill?

Here, the gas cart grills are full-size grills on wheels, so you keep the whole cooking surface without a fixed island. The ceramic grills are the small options, made to be lifted onto a stand or table.
