The Modern Flames RedStone insert slides into your old wood burning fireplace to turn it into an electric one. This collection has one listing, the RedStone Traditional, with five widths from 26 to 54 inches. It can also be a built-in electric fireplace in a new wall. It is the plainest insert in the line, with a remote control only, no app and no screen.

An insert for the fireplace you already have

Choose your electric fireplace insert size on this page. The thin and wide finish trim kit comes in the box for a built-in wall. Smaller models can take a surround to cover gaps around a larger opening. Browse inserts across electric brands or our gas, wood and electric inserts.

Modern Flames RedStone: the fire and the heat

Its flame technology uses orange lit logs rather than a screen in a tall viewing area up to 29 inches high. You choose the realistic flame effect, ember bed and downlight colors. The log set and remote come in the box. Large TruWood kits replace the standard logs with real charred split wood. This indoor unit's heat output warms up to about 400 square feet. Plug it into an outlet on its own circuit. Run flames with or without heat for ambiance, with no gas line or chimney.

RedStone or Orion

Want a different fire look? The Modern Flames Orion Traditional has the same shape and sizes, but shows video of real flames on a screen and adds app control. The Orion V2 series adds a newer screen, speakers and a covered patio rating. Compare the full Modern Flames electric line.

FAQ

Will the Modern Flames RedStone fit my existing fireplace?

RedStone comes in five widths from 26 to 54 inches for an existing opening. Thin and wide trim is included for built-in walls. Smaller models offer a surround for larger gaps. Measure your opening's width, height and depth, then call us and we will talk it through.

How is the Modern Flames RedStone different from the Orion Traditional?

Both have the same shape, five widths and heat. RedStone has orange lit logs, adjustable flame, ember bed and downlight colors, and a remote. Orion Traditional shows high-definition video of real flames onscreen and adds app control. Orion V2 Traditional adds speakers and a covered patio rating.

Does the Modern Flames RedStone give off heat?

Yes. It heats a room of up to about 400 square feet when plugged into a wall outlet on its own circuit. You can run the flames without heat, too. This model has no hardwired option.

Does the Modern Flames RedStone flame look real?

Yes, for what it is. On a Reddit thread, an owner who had just installed a RedStone asked whether its fire was meant to look the way it did, and other owners and a fireplace dealer said yes, that is how the Modern Flames RedStone looks. It is the plainest fire in the line: orange logs lit from behind, with colors you set, not a video on a screen. The same people said the Orion series, whose fire is a high definition video of real flames, looks far more real, and that it is worth seeing an electric fireplace in person before you buy. If the flame matters most to you, look at the Orion Traditional in the same five widths, and call us and we will talk it through.
