The Golden Designs Savonlinna is a three person outdoor traditional sauna that looks like a little barn. It has a pitched tile roof and a cream colored exterior made to handle rain and sun. The interior is all Canadian red cedar. A bronze tinted glass door and a tall window let in the light. It takes up about 69 by 68 inches of patio space, plus a little more for the roof overhang.
A Harvia 8 kW stove heats the room to 170 to 185 degrees. Ladle water over the stones when you want steam. Inside you get a starry ceiling light, a control panel with FM radio and Bluetooth, speakers, and a sandglass timer, bucket, and scoop. Two circuits: 240 V / 40 A for the Harvia 8 kW stove and 120 V / 15 A for the control panel, lights and music, which is what Golden Designs specifies for this model. The cover of the linked owner’s manual still carries an older 30 A / 6 kW note, so have your certified electrician size the breaker and copper wire to the rating plate on the stove that arrives and to local code.
A vanilla creme all-weather exterior with a pitched tiled roof (add 4 in around the 69 x 68 x 89 in shell for the overhang), a curtain-wall window and a bronze privacy tempered glass door. Inside it is all natural Canadian red cedar, 63 x 62 in with 82 in of headroom, lit by a ceiling galaxy star color therapy system.
The owner’s manual recommends four adults: two to set the floor and rear wall, two to four to lift the side walls and three to four to place the two roof sections, using only a Phillips or battery screwdriver. Panels arrive pre-built on a pallet, curbside. The stove and main power switch must be wired by a licensed electrician.
Not a poured footing, but a level, dry surface that carries the 1,185 lb sauna plus bathers, which the manual says can exceed 1,000 lbs loaded. Golden Designs recommends a concrete slab, concrete pavers, gravel, cinder blocks or a solid wood deck, and asks that the support cradles rest on blocks if the sauna sits on the ground.
The Harvia stove brings the room to an ideal 170-185 F with a 190 F maximum, and you can ladle water over it with the included bucket and scoop for steam. The manual limits sessions to 40 minutes, asks for a cool-down before going back in, and calls for an hour off after four hours of use.
Yes. The all-weather exterior is designed to sit in rain and sun per the owner’s manual. Cedar will grey in one to two years without a UV protectant, minor seepage that dries during use is normal, and a rain cover is recommended while the sauna sits idle. Never use it during a storm, and keep the control system away from direct water.
The sandglass, bucket and scoop are included, along with the galaxy star lighting, LED control panel with FM radio and Bluetooth, and built-in speakers. Buyer may cancel and return the goods to Manufacturer, subject to the terms and conditions oft his policy. Golden Designs reserves the right to refuse to refund any deposit or payment, or cancel any payment due, and any owing until such time as Manufacture a) is in receipt of the goods b) has inspected the goods and c) in the Manufactures discretion, has found the goods to be free of damage. All refunds will be provided within 5 business days once the product has been returned to the warehouse and inspected for damage
All returned goods must be in their original packaging. Seller may refuse to refund all or any portion of any payment, or cancel payment due and owing if the Buyer fails to fully comply with or violates the terms and conditions of this policy.
All cancelled orders and/or returned goods shall be subject to the following: a) storage fees and costs associated with routing the goods; b) handling and restocking fee of 20% of the total purchase for each sauna; c) all shipping costs to and from the Manufacture, and; d) a return merchandise authorization (RMA)number provided by Norse Steam. Buyer’s failure to obtain the RMA number shall result in Manufacture not accepting any returned shipment and Buyer paying all costs and fees. I got the Norse Steam SaunaLife wood-fired hot tub, the S4N model, and its been seriously great. It heats up quicker than I expected, usually around an hour and a half, and once its hot, it stays that way for a good long while. The wood-fired system is simple to use, and honestly kind of fun.
The tub itself feels solid and well put together. The thermo-spruce exterior looks beautiful in person, and the fiberglass interior is smooth, deep, and easy to clean. Its the kind of setup that just works without a bunch of fuss, which I really appreciate.
