KOLO Bucket 3: a 1 gallon aluminum sauna bucket with a straight bamboo handle
The KOLO Bucket 3 is a 1 gallon sauna bucket with a straight bamboo handle. The handle stands upright over the bucket, so your knuckles stay clear of the water and the bucket stands neatly against a bench. The bucket is aluminum, so it does not leak or rust, and it does not need soaking the way a wooden bucket does. Pick black or white on the page. KOLO designs it in Finland.
Keep it on the floor or a low bench, away from the heater, and ladle water from it onto the stones whenever you want steam. A gallon is enough for a full session for two or three people. This page is the bucket only. Add a matching bamboo and aluminum ladle on the page, or skip it if you already own one. Empty it after each sauna and wipe it dry, and it is ready for the next one. Prefer a curved handle? See the KOLO Bucket 2 with a curved handle. The KOLO Bucket 3 ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.
FAQ
How much does the KOLO Bucket 3 hold?
One gallon (5 liters), per the specification table and the product title, the same capacity as every KOLO bucket. The straight-handle version has its own dimensions: 9.05 inches high, 9.44 inches in diameter and 13.38 inches overall length as listed, at 1.43 pounds empty. That is enough water for a full session of throwing steam for two or three bathers before you refill.
Does Bucket 3 come with a ladle?
Not as standard; this page is the bucket only. Add one from the Ladle selector above, which offers a matching KOLO bamboo and aluminum ladle in Black or White at the price shown, and it goes on the same order. If you want the pair boxed together with this straight handle, the Set 3 listing bundles both pieces. Explore all our KOLO sauna accessories.
Why a straight handle?
The upright bamboo handle stands above the rim rather than arching over it, which keeps your knuckles clear of the water and lets the bucket stand tidily against a bench wall. The page describes it as heat-resistant bamboo on a premium aluminum vessel, so the handle stays comfortable to hold in a hot room. Prefer a rounded grip? The curved-handle sibling is Bucket 2.
Can I leave water in it between saunas?
You can, since aluminum does not rust and the bucket is leakage-proof, but it is better practice to empty and refill it each session so the water you throw on the stones is fresh, and so the bamboo handle is not standing in a damp room longer than needed. Wipe it dry and it is ready for the next heat. A quick rinse with warm water is all the cleaning it needs.
Is aluminum safe near a sauna heater?
The bucket is made for the sauna, but it belongs on the floor or a low bench, not on or against the heater. Keep it outside the clearance distances in your heater manual, as you would any object, and never rest it on the stones. Aluminum is light, does not rust and, as the page notes, withstands the room’s high heat, so normal sauna temperatures are no problem for the vessel or its bamboo handle.
What are the two finishes?
Black or White, chosen on the Color selector at the same price. Both are the identical aluminum bucket with a straight bamboo handle; the finish only changes how it reads against your paneling. The Scandinavian styling described on the page is deliberately plain so the bucket suits a modern indoor sauna as well as a traditional outdoor one, and either shade matches the rest of the KOLO range.
