Who makes Harvia sauna heaters?

Harvia is a Finnish maker of electric sauna heaters and wood burning sauna stoves, and every heater on this page is made in Finland. Stones sitting directly on the heating elements are a feature of every electric Harvia, so heat comes off rock. Controls are built in or operated through a Harvia Xenio wall control outside the hot room. For a Finnish sauna, a traditional sauna heated with rocks, you can compare both heating types through our sauna heater collection, browse our electric selection or find a room through our sauna collection.

Wall heaters for your room

A Harvia electric sauna heater can leave your floor clear. Open the KIP page for a rectangular wall-mounted design in 4.5 to 8 kW, covering 100 to 425 cubic feet. Choose knobs on the heater or a separate wall control.

The Wall range sits only 10 inches deep. Its 6 kW size covers 141 to 282 cubic feet, while the 8 kW covers 176 to 423. Choose black or stainless steel, with an illuminated control dial on the heater.

The curved Spirit heaters hold rounded stones between stacked steel hoops. Sizes run from 6 to 9 kW for rooms from 177 to 494 cubic feet. Each needs an external control, and the matching safety rail is its own listing.

Floor heaters with room for stones

The Cilindro pillar heaters stand against a wall or in a corner. Their 6 to 10.5 kW sizes cover 141 to 636 cubic feet. Water on the exposed side stones makes gentle steam, while water on top makes it sharper.

The Virta column range includes slim black floor standing heaters. The home sizes cover 177 to 635 cubic feet, and Virta Combi adds a steamer. The wider Virta Pro serves commercial rooms up to about 1100 cubic feet.

The Club floor heaters suit large home saunas and rooms used all day. Their stainless steel bodies hold a stone basket on top. Sizes from 10 to 15 kW cover 388 to 989 cubic feet.

Wood burning stoves and their shapes

A Harvia wood burning sauna heater gives you a fire visible through glass. The Legend stoves surround the firebox with an open frame holding hundreds of pounds of stones for the soft heat a sauna experience is built on. The closed Pro stoves suit medium and large rooms, with water tank and package versions.

For a Harvia sauna stove with a narrow body, the Linear range measures about 16 to 18 inches wide. The GreenFlame options use a cleaner burning firebox in Linear and Legend designs. Compare these with our wood burning stove collection when choosing your heat source.

Match the room, controls and additions

Multiply room length, width and height in feet to get cubic feet, then choose a listing whose range covers it. KIP and Cilindro offer built-in controls or external control versions, while The Wall has built-in controls. Spirit, Virta and Club need a Xenio wall control, and Virta Combi needs the Combi version. Where offered, you pick the home or commercial power supply on the page.

Each listing gives its stone requirement in boxes, so you can add sauna stones on the page. For an unpackaged wood stove, choose the chimney kit, extensions and pipe adapter on the page. The Legend and Pro packages include stones and chimney parts.

Your questions answered

Is Harvia a good sauna brand?

Harvia is a Finnish maker whose heaters are made in Finland. Its electric heaters place stones directly on the elements, while its wood stoves hold 88 to 572 pounds of stones. Every listing here carries the full manufacturer warranty.

How do I use a Harvia sauna heater?

With built-in controls, set time and temperature using the heater knobs or dial. With external controls, use the Xenio wall control outside the room. For a wood stove, light the fire and let the stones heat. Follow the manual in the box, or call us about your model.

Can you pour water on a Harvia sauna heater?

Yes, you can pour water on the stones to make steam. On Cilindro, water on the side makes gentle steam, while water on top makes it sharper. Virta Combi adds a steamer with a 5 liter reservoir, and a bucket and ladle set is optional on every page.

What size Harvia sauna heater do I need?

Multiply your room length, width and height in feet to calculate cubic feet. Choose a heater whose listed range covers that volume. KIP covers 100 to 425 cubic feet across its sizes, while wood stoves cover 212 to nearly 1300. Call us with your measurements to talk it through.

Do Harvia heaters come with stones and a control?

Heaters come without stones, which you add in the listed box quantity. KIP and Cilindro offer built-in control versions, and The Wall always has built-in controls. Other electric versions need an added Xenio wall control. Wood stoves need chimney parts, while the Legend and Pro packages include stones and chimney parts.

Electric heater or wood burning stove: which Harvia should I choose?

An electric heater needs a power supply and starts with knobs, a dial or a wall control. A wood stove needs no power but requires a chimney, with its fire visible through a glass door. Choose your Harvia sauna heater around your room size and preferred heat source.
