Modern Flames RedStone: a traditional electric insert at the lowest price in the line
The Modern Flames RedStone is a traditional electric fireplace insert. An insert slides into the fireplace opening you already have, so an old wood fireplace becomes an electric one. It can also be built into a new wall. It comes in five widths from 26 to 54 inches. Pick the size on the page. The flame picture is up to 29 inches high, with orange lit logs. You choose the flame color, the ember bed color, and the downlight color, so the fire can look natural or match your room.
It needs no gas line and no chimney. Plug it into a wall outlet on its own circuit. It heats a room of up to 400 square feet with 5,000 BTU. Run the flames with or without heat. It comes with a remote. In the box you get the log set, the remote, and thin and wide trim for a built in wall. For smaller models, you can add a surround to cover gaps around a larger opening. The Modern Flames RedStone ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.

FAQ
Is the RedStone an insert or a built-in fireplace?
It is designed for both. The manual describes an insert installation, where the unit slides into an existing fireplace opening and plugs into a receptacle with the supplied cord, and a built-in installation in a custom-framed wall with hardwired power. The page sums it up as installing in a rough-frame wall or a finished opening. Pick the width that suits your opening on the Size selector.
What do the 16mm and 41mm trim spec sheets refer to?
Two trim widths, 5/8 inch and 1-5/8 inch, are included in the box for built-in installations, according to the RedStone trim options sheet linked in the Manuals tab. The Specifications tab links a dimension drawing for each size with either trim, so you can plan the finished opening around the trim you intend to use. The manual notes the thin trim suits low-clearance hearth installs.
Which surround options are available?
Small and Large surrounds are listed on the selector for the 26, 30, and 36 inch sizes. As an example, the small 5 inch surround for the 26 inch RS-2621 covers an opening 32-3/4 inches wide by 23-1/4 inches high, or 27-5/8 inches high with the bottom riser, while the large 7 inch version covers 36-3/4 by 25-1/4 inches, per the vendor’s surround specs.
How much heat does it produce, and what power does it need?
The heater is rated 5,000 BTU, and it is supplemental heat rather than a primary source. The manual specifies a dedicated 110-120 volt, 15-amp grounded outlet for the plug-in insert installation, or a dedicated 15-amp breaker when hardwired by a qualified electrician, and says not to share the circuit with other appliances.
What flame effects does it have?
The RedStone uses Modern Flames’ Hybrid-FX flame technology with a viewing area up to 29 inches high. Three flame patterns can each be lit in six colors, with multi-color downlighting and an orange-lit log set. The Flame Style selector on this page simply records the combination you prefer, such as Blue over Blue or Gold over Orange, at no charge.
How much clearance does it need above?
The manual sets the minimum clearance to combustibles at 11.8 inches, or 300 mm, from the glass front to a mantel or ceiling, with zero clearance at the bottom, sides, and back. If you finish a mantel with paint or lacquer, use a heat-resistant product to prevent discoloration. Keep the unit away from moisture and high-traffic areas.
Can I upgrade the log set?
Yes. The TruWood selector above offers Modern Flames’ Premium Timber Kit of real, individually charred logs sized for your RedStone: the 26-30 inch kit fits the RS-2621 and RS-3021, the 36 kit the RS-3626, the 42-44 kit the RS-4229, and the 52-60 kit the RS-5435.
