DuraVent DuraPlus Attic Insulation Shield: keeps attic insulation away from the chimney
The DuraVent DuraPlus Attic Insulation Shield is a barrier around the chimney where it enters the attic. It stands 14 inches tall to keep loose insulation and debris from collecting against the hot pipe. You need one in each attic the chimney crosses, even without insulation, unless the chimney is enclosed in a chase, or boxed enclosure. DuraPlus is DuraVent’s triple wall chimney, the insulated pipe that takes over from the stovepipe at the ceiling or wall and runs up past the roof. The shield comes in two pieces: a base with the shield and a collar around the pipe.
The base sits over a ceiling support box or a firestop radiation shield, the plate beneath it. Keep 2 inches of open air between the chimney and anything that can burn, including insulation and framing. The chimney has a stainless steel inner liner, a middle wall, and a galvanized or stainless steel outer wall. An insulating blanket and air space help keep the outside cool and the inside hot for draft. Choose 6 or 8 inch to match your chimney. Need the plate underneath? See the DuraVent DuraPlus Firestop Radiation Shield plate. The DuraVent DuraPlus Attic Insulation Shield ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.
