DuraVent DVL Close Clearance Connector Kit: pipe for a straight run to an 8 foot ceiling
The DuraVent DVL Close Clearance Connector Kit is a 6 inch pipe kit for a wood stove that vents straight up to the chimney. It brings together the pipe pieces for a typical room with an 8 foot ceiling and a DuraTech or DuraPlus chimney. You get an adapter for the top, two straight lengths measuring 24 inches each, and a 12 inch adjustable section to bridge the remaining gap. DVL is DuraVent’s double wall black stovepipe, the pipe that runs from a wood stove to the chimney inside the room. The chimney, ceiling support box, and connector at the stove outlet are sold separately.
Air between the two walls provides insulation. DVL needs 6 inches of space from a wall and 8 inches from a ceiling, rather than the 18 inches single wall pipe requires. That gives you room to place the stove closer to the wall. DVL cannot be cut. The adjustable section slides over a straight piece to fit the space left over. Have a taller ceiling? What is in the DVL Close Clearance Connector Kit?
The 6DVL-KVP kit contains a DVL Adapter, two 24-inch lengths of 6-inch DVL double-wall black pipe and one 12-inch DVL adjustable length. Together they run from the stove collar to the chimney support box in a typical 8-foot through-the-ceiling installation, with the adjustable section absorbing the final few inches so no pipe has to be cut.
Why choose DVL over single-wall stovepipe?
Clearance and draft. DVL’s air-insulated double wall is listed for 6 inches to walls and 8 inches to ceilings, against 18 inches for single-wall pipe, so the stove can sit much closer to the wall. Its stainless inner wall heats up faster and stays hotter, which strengthens draft and reduces creosote. DVL is also required for solid-fuel stoves in manufactured homes.
Can the pipe be cut to length?
No; the instructions say DVL cannot be cut. Length is adjusted with the 12-inch adjustable section in this kit, which slides over a straight length and is screwed to lock it. Each DVL joint takes up 1-1/2 inches. If you need more reach, add straight DVL lengths; longer adjustable sections and adjustable elbows are also available.
How does the connector pipe attach to the stove and to the chimney?
At the stove, if the inner sleeve fits the collar no adapter is needed; if it nearly fits, crimp the sleeve; if the collar is too small, use the DVL Adapter that comes in the kit. At the top, DVL locks straight into a DuraTech support box, while DuraPlus needs the DVL/DuraBlack Chimney Adapter with Trim, which the DuraPlus kits include. Rear-exit stoves should use a tee rather than a 90-degree elbow.
Can double-wall connector pipe pass through a wall or ceiling, or be enclosed?
No. Like all connector pipe, DVL may not be enclosed and may not pass through walls, ceilings, attics or closets; it ends at the chimney’s support box or wall thimble. Keep the run as short and straight as possible, do not mix it with single-wall pipe, and give every wood-burning appliance its own connector and chimney.
Do the joints need screws, and is smoke on the first fire normal?
Fasten each connection with three screws (#8 x 3/8 inch) into the outer wall; DVL does not use joint sealant. Expect a moderate paint-like odor and light smoke during the first few fires as the black finish cures; it clears after a few uses. Inspect the connector and chimney monthly during the heating season and clean when creosote or soot has built up.

A sauna turns your garden into a spa oasis. We debated it for a while, but after renovating our house, we pulled the trigger and bought a sauna from Norse Steam and Maya. We purchased the 3-person sauna for our outdoor garden. We chose the cube sauna for the aesthetic and could not be happier.
I assembled by myself except for the 2 large panels (requires a few people). Instructions were good - took me two partial Saturdays to complete and a few hours to unpack and organize in advance of assembly. Had my elec. add a NEMA enclosure on the back for the controller and power for lights and a 2nd panel for the wireless control.

We absolutely love the CL7G. It is extremely comfortable for 6 people (can fit more less comfortably). The Thermory Spruce and Aspen in the interior smells great. The lighting is lovely. We paired the CL7G with the Harvia Spirit 10.5kw.

Smoking Hot Tub!
I got the Norse Steam SaunaLife wood-fired hot tub, the S4N model, and its been seriously great. It heats up quicker than I expected, usually around an hour and a half, and once its hot, it stays that way for a good long while. The wood-fired system is simple to use, and honestly kind of fun.
The tub itself feels solid and well put together. The thermo-spruce exterior looks beautiful in person, and the fiberglass interior is smooth, deep, and easy to clean. Its the kind of setup that just works without a bunch of fuss, which I really appreciate.
Also, the team at Norse Steam was genuinely great to work with. Super helpful, quick to respond, and made the process really easy from start to finish. It felt like they actually cared that I was happy with it. The tub has totally become a go-to way to unwind, and I wouldnt change a thing.

Great Sauna & Purchase Experience
Great experience purchasing Finnmark FD-2 from Norse Steam. Good communication and easy to assemble. Temperature increases quickly (30 minutes or less to 140) and maintains well. So far this has been a great purchase.

Great sauna and great customer service
We purchased the Finnmark SD-1 sauna. Maya was extremely helpful with the purchase. We had an issue with the sauna not reaching the maximum temperature, and Maya connected us with the appropriate technician that explained how to correct the issue. The sauna now heats to the maximum temperature (170 degrees) in less than an hour, and it is a great unit. We are very happy with it, and we would definitely purchase from NorseSteam if we needed any other items.
