What this vent is

PelletVent Pro pipe is a venting system for stoves and inserts that use wood pellets, corn, other biofuels or oil. This double-wall pellet stove vent pipe has a corrosion resistant stainless steel inner wall and a galvalume outer wall. It has a gasket in every joint and requires 1 inch clearance to combustibles. Rigid pipe cannot be cut, so sliding extensions fill uneven gaps. You can compare both pellet lines or find DuraVent PelletVent for an older run.

Through the wall

Start with an appliance adapter and a tee with a clean-out cap, then pass through a wall thimble. Air intake kits bring outside air to the fire, and a house shield sits behind the horizontal cap. The horizontal kit includes the adapter, thimble and cap, and you add pipe on the page. For exhaust and outside air through one opening, compare the CVS concentric vent.

Up through the roof

A roof installation needs the appropriate support box, ceiling or floor firestop spacers and an attic insulation shield. Use 45 and 90 degree elbows to turn the run. Wall straps support the run, while roof flashing, a storm collar and a vertical cap finish it. Choose the vertical kit for a flat or cathedral ceiling, then add pipe on the page.

Using a chimney you already have

After inspection and sweeping, a masonry fireplace insert can use flex pipe around the smoke shelf, while corn calls for BioFlex from the chimney liner family. An existing metal chimney or B vent takes the factory built reline kit. The chimney adapter connects to an existing DuraTech chimney or DuraPlus chimney at the ceiling support box through a DVL/DuraBlack chimney adapter.

Your venting questions

Can I run the exhaust pipe for my pellet stove through the wall?

Yes, if your stove maker permits the layout. Use a tee with a clean-out cap and a wall thimble that keeps 1 inch from anything combustible. Fit a horizontal cap at least 6 inches beyond the wall, pointing down, and follow the stove maker's run limits.

Does PelletVent Pro need sealant?

Ordinary joints need no screws or sealant because the receiving-end gasket seals when you push together and twist to lock. Apply high temperature sealant at the stove outlet before fitting the adapter. Also apply it at sliding extension overlaps and beneath the roof storm collar.

Can a pellet stove vent into an existing chimney?

Yes, after inspection and sweeping, masonry can take flex pipe for an insert or BioFlex for corn. Metal chimneys or B vent need the reline kit, never direct exhaust into unlined B vent. Existing DuraTech or DuraPlus chimneys take the chimney adapter at the ceiling support box.

How often should pellet stove pipe be cleaned?

Check monthly during heating season and clean at least yearly through the tee's removable cap. Use a plastic or flexible steel brush, never a stiff brush that scratches stainless steel. Check PelletVent Pro more often when burning corn because trapped ash holds moisture.
