DuraVent DirectVent Pro Co-Linear Kit with Flex: two liners and a cap for a masonry chimney
The DuraVent DirectVent Pro Co-Linear Kit with Flex is a vent kit for a gas insert in a masonry chimney. It includes a High Wind or Prairie cap and two flexible aluminum liners. Co-linear means the liners sit side by side, joining one cap at the chimney top. Red carries exhaust out. Green brings outside air down to the insert. DirectVent Pro is DuraVent’s pipe inside a pipe vent for direct vent gas fireplaces and stoves: exhaust goes out through the inner pipe and outside air comes in through the outer pipe.
Choose the cap style, then the flex option. Liner pairs come in 25 or 35 foot lengths. There is also a 4 inch exhaust version and an option combining long exhaust and short air liners. Insert connectors are sold separately. Have the chimney inspected and cleaned first. The system must be listed with your insert. For windy locations, the High Wind cap accepts a vertical wind guard. FAQ
What is in the Co-Linear Kit with Flex?
Everything to vent a direct vent co-linear gas insert up a masonry chimney: your choice of a High-Wind or Prairie termination cap plus two lengths of aluminum flex, one red for exhaust and one green for combustion air. Choose the cap style first and then the flex option on the selectors; the chart in the listing gives the diameters and lengths.
Why are the two flex lengths red and green?
Color coding keeps the runs straight: red carries the insert’s exhaust up to the cap and green brings outside air down from the cap to the insert. Both run side by side inside the chimney, which is what co-linear means, and they must connect to the correct collars on the insert per its manual.
High-Wind or Prairie cap: which should I pick?
The insert manual names the cap it was listed with, so start there. The High-Wind cap is DuraVent’s standard co-linear termination and can take the Vertical Wind Guard on exposed roofs; the Prairie cap is the alternative style listed for some appliances. The options row under each cap lists the flex lengths and any add-on kit that goes with it.
How long a chimney will the flex reach?
The High-Wind option offers two 25-foot or two 35-foot lengths and the Prairie option two 35-foot lengths, with a 3 and 4 foot kit and an aluminum termination kit also listed. Measure from the insert collars to the chimney top; if a run is short, a flex coupling joins two pieces with sheet metal screws. Never let the flex sag inside the flue.
How is the flex installed in the chimney?
Following DuraVent’s chimney liner instructions, a flex puller and rope draw each liner up through the damper and flue while a second person feeds from below, leaving 2 to 3 inches above the chimney top for the top plate and connector. The insert end uses co-linear flex connectors or a co-axial to co-linear adapter as the insert manual directs.
Is this kit listed for my insert?
DirectVent Pro co-linear systems are listed in combination with the appliance, so the insert manual must name DuraVent’s cap and liner; clearances and maximum height come from it. Inspect and clean the masonry chimney first. Other termination and connector parts are in the DirectVent Pro category.
