DuraVent DuraFlex Stainless ProMesh Insulation Kit: a complete wrap for 3 to 6 inch liners
The DuraVent DuraFlex Stainless ProMesh Insulation Kit is an insulation package that wraps around the liner inside your chimney. It covers 25 feet of liner in 3 to 6 inch diameters. You get a 22 inch wide ProFoil blanket roll, 25 feet of protective ProMesh, and foil tape. For wood burning, a half inch of ProFoil lets the liner touch the masonry instead of needing 1 inch of air space. DuraFlex Stainless is DuraVent’s flexible stainless steel liner for relining a masonry chimney that vents a wood, pellet, oil, or gas appliance.
Gas, oil, and pellet liners can touch masonry without insulation. Insulating helps draft and reduces condensation, especially in cold, exposed chimneys. Have a chimney professional check the masonry’s clearance from house framing. Before lowering the liner, wrap it with ProFoil, tape the seam, and slide ProMesh over the blanket to protect it. The stainless band clamps for both ends are sold separately. Liners over 6 inches need wider blanket and larger mesh, purchased separately. Need the blanket alone? See DuraVent DuraFlex Stainless ProFoil insulation blanket. The DuraVent DuraFlex Stainless ProMesh Insulation Kit ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.

FAQ
What is in the ProMesh Insulation Kit?
A 22-inch by 25-foot roll of ProFoil insulation blanket, a 12-inch by 25-foot roll of ProMesh protective wire mesh and a 2-inch by 150-foot roll of aluminum tape, enough to insulate 25 feet of DuraFlex liner in 3 to 6 inch diameters. It is the insulation DuraVent specifies for a wood-burning reline.
When is liner insulation required?
For wood-burning appliances whenever you want the liner listed at zero clearance to the masonry; without insulation a DuraFlex liner venting wood needs 1 inch of clearance to the masonry. The requirement is a minimum of 1/2 inch of ProFoil (or Flexwrap) around the liner. For gas, oil and pellet appliances insulation is optional but improves draft and cuts condensation, especially on exterior chimneys.
How is it installed?
Roll the ProFoil out, trim it so the flex end rings stay exposed, wrap it lengthwise around the liner and seal the seam with the aluminum tape, keeping at least 1/2 inch all round. Slip the ProMesh over the wrapped liner and secure the ends so it tightens snugly; the mesh protects the blanket while the liner is lowered. DuraVent’s instructions call for stainless band clamps at the ends.
Will an insulated liner still fit my flue?
Allow for the added thickness: the liner plus 1/2 inch of blanket and mesh must slide down the flue without forcing, so measure the smallest inside dimension of the tiles first. Where it is tight, DuraVent’s alternative is a poured TherMix insulation, 1 inch minimum, which is a separate product. Have the chimney cleaned and inspected before relining.
Does rigid DuraLiner need this kit?
No. Rigid DuraLiner is factory insulated and listed at zero clearance as supplied; this kit is for flexible DuraFlex Pro, SW, 316 and 304 liners. The 8-inch DuraLiner Insulation Kit covers DuraLiner flex. Liners, tees and top plates are in the DuraFlex Stainless category.
