DuraVent DuraLiner Extend-A-Cap Kit: the plate and cap set for your chimney top
The DuraVent DuraLiner Extend-A-Cap Kit is a plate and cap set for the top of a masonry chimney. The base plate rests on the chimney’s top and carries the liner’s weight. It comes with a clamp to hold the pipe during lowering, a storm collar to seal around the pipe, and a cap. The liner pipe is sold separately. DuraLiner is DuraVent’s factory insulated double wall pipe for relining a masonry chimney that vents a wood, pellet, coal, oil, or gas appliance.
Choose a 6 or 8 inch size, then a base plate that covers your chimney top. For round pipe, the plates measure 13 by 13 or 13 by 18 inches. For oval pipe, they measure 13 by 20 or 10 by 22 inches. These are plate dimensions, not extension heights. The liner must stand 6 inches above the masonry, with no joint above the clamp. The clamp is tightened last. Applications
DuraLiner is a high-temperature, insulated double-wall masonry relining system for use with appliances fueled by gas, pellet, oil, wood, or coal. It safely protects masonry chimneys from the damaging effects of flue product condensation.
Materials and Construction
.016″ 304 stainless steel inner liner. Rigid relining pipe: double-walled with 304 stainless steel inner and galvalume outer. Factory insulated between inner and outer walls. DuraLiner Rigid Pipe in round or oval, is constructed with built-in fittings and pre-drilled holes (stainless steel rivets included). Round 5″ DuraLiner rigid pipe is constructed with built-in twist-lock and pre-drilled holes.

Rigid double wall: 0″ clearance between the liner and masonry and 0″ clearance between the masonry and combustibles. DuraLiner Flex: 1″ clearance to masonry. Zero clearance with insulation.

Planning Your Installation:
- Refer to the Typical Installations for the needed parts for installation.
- The size of the liner should match the outlet size on the appliance.
- Determine use of round or oval pipe based onthe interior shape of the chimney.
- Determine the length of liner needed. Subtract 1 1/2″ overlap per joint on pipe. When using Extend-A-Cap kit, liner must extend 6″ above top of the masonry surface.
- Make sure the top of the masonry chimney has a leveled surface to insure a proper fit for the Extend-A-Cap or Transition Anchor Plate and to provide a secure, leak-proof installation.
- If a free-standing appliance is used, select the vent or stovepipe pieces to connect from the appliance to the liner. Refer to installation instructions.
- For Installations using a Transition Anchor Plate, refer to the DuraTech, DuraPlus, or DuraPlus HTC catalog section or installation instructions for proper parts and installation.
- Important! Check to be sure the installation complies with all local and national code requirements, including clearance to combustibles. Contact the local building inspector for permit requirements.
Design Recommendations
- The following design recommendations are a general guideline to assist in the design and selection of liner components for your installation. Always follow DuraVent installation instructions enclosed with the cap or support box before installing your chimney system.
- Before relining a chimney, it should be cleaned and inspected, by a certified chimney sweep, to verify the integrity of the mortar and masonry.
- DuraLiner is approved for 0″ clearance between the liner and masonry and 0″ clearance between the masonry and combustibles.
- DuraLiner is used for wood-burning appliances when zeroclearance or oval pipe is needed.
- Refer to the appliance manufacturer for installation requirements affecting venting. Keep the vent path as straight as possible for best performance.
Restore Deteriorating Chimneys with DuraLiner
When a masonry chimney is damaged or has fallen down, it can be replaced with a safe, listed liner system or factory-built chimney. What is the DuraLiner Extend-A-Cap Kit for?
It terminates a DuraLiner relining system at the top of a masonry chimney. The kit contains the Base Plate that sits on the chimney crown, a Support Clamp that carries the weight of the liner, a Storm Collar and the Cap; the DuraLiner pipe itself is not included. Choose 6 or 8 inch and then the extension length on the selectors above.
What do the 13, 18, 20 and 22 inch length options mean?
They are the height the Extend-A-Cap carries the liner above the masonry crown. DuraVent requires the liner to extend at least 6 inches above the top of the masonry, and the finished termination still has to meet code height: 3 feet above the roof penetration and 2 feet above anything within 10 feet, so pick the extension that gets the cap there.
How does the kit attach to the chimney?
The masonry top must be level so the Base Plate seats flat and seals; the clamp bolts are set so the pipe just passes through, then tightened once the liner is at its final height, with a DuraLiner joint sitting above the clamp. DuraLiner sections are joined with the stainless pop rivets supplied, not screws, and the Storm Collar and Cap finish the top.
Does this kit work with rigid and flexible DuraLiner?
Yes, it terminates either. Rigid DuraLiner is double-wall and factory insulated, listed for 0 inch clearance to the masonry and 0 inch from the masonry to combustibles; DuraLiner flex needs 1 inch to the masonry, or the insulation kit for zero clearance. Both use the same 304 stainless inner liner in 6 and 8 inch sizes.
Which appliances can vent through DuraLiner?
DuraLiner is listed to UL 1777 and ULC S635 for appliances burning gas, wood pellets, oil, wood or coal, and it is the DuraVent liner for high-heat wood-burning inserts and stoves where zero clearance or oval pipe is needed. Match the liner diameter to the appliance outlet and have the masonry inspected and cleaned by a certified sweep before relining.
What else do I need besides the cap kit?
The liner run itself: rigid DuraLiner lengths or flex, a stove connector or tee at the bottom, and, for flex above the first flue tile, the DuraLiner Insulation Kit. Subtract 1-1/2 inches of overlap per joint when working out length. The rest of the system is in the DuraLiner category; keep the vent path as straight as possible.

We purchased the 3-person sauna for our outdoor garden. We chose the cube sauna for the aesthetic and could not be happier.
I assembled by myself except for the 2 large panels (requires a few people). Instructions were good - took me two partial Saturdays to complete and a few hours to unpack and organize in advance of assembly. Had my elec. add a NEMA enclosure on the back for the controller and power for lights and a 2nd panel for the wireless control.

We absolutely love the CL7G. It is extremely comfortable for 6 people (can fit more less comfortably). The Thermory Spruce and Aspen in the interior smells great. The lighting is lovely. We paired the CL7G with the Harvia Spirit 10.5kw.

Smoking Hot Tub!
I got the Norse Steam SaunaLife wood-fired hot tub, the S4N model, and its been seriously great. It heats up quicker than I expected, usually around an hour and a half, and once its hot, it stays that way for a good long while. The wood-fired system is simple to use, and honestly kind of fun.
The tub itself feels solid and well put together. The thermo-spruce exterior looks beautiful in person, and the fiberglass interior is smooth, deep, and easy to clean. Its the kind of setup that just works without a bunch of fuss, which I really appreciate.
Also, the team at Norse Steam was genuinely great to work with. Super helpful, quick to respond, and made the process really easy from start to finish. It felt like they actually cared that I was happy with it. The tub has totally become a go-to way to unwind, and I wouldnt change a thing.

Great experience purchasing Finnmark FD-2 from Norse Steam. Good communication and easy to assemble. Temperature increases quickly (30 minutes or less to 140) and maintains well. So far this has been a great purchase.

Great sauna and great customer service
We purchased the Finnmark SD-1 sauna. Maya was extremely helpful with the purchase. We had an issue with the sauna not reaching the maximum temperature, and Maya connected us with the appropriate technician that explained how to correct the issue. The sauna now heats to the maximum temperature (170 degrees) in less than an hour, and it is a great unit. We are very happy with it, and we would definitely purchase from NorseSteam if we needed any other items.
