The DuraVent DuraPlus Through the Ceiling Kit is a 6 inch kit for venting a stove upward through a flat or vaulted ceiling. It includes stovepipe adapters, a square ceiling support box with trim, roof flashing, a storm collar, and a chimney cap. The flashing seals the roof opening and fits flat roofs through 6/12, meaning 6 inches of rise over 12 inches of run. Steeper roofs need different flashing. DuraPlus is DuraVent’s triple wall chimney, the insulated pipe that takes over from the stovepipe at the ceiling or wall and runs up past the roof.
Chimney lengths and stovepipe are separate purchases. The chimney adapter joins double wall DVL or single wall DuraBlack stovepipe to the support box. The included snap lock adapter handles another maker’s snap lock stovepipe. A straight chimney needs at least 10 to 15 feet above the stove outlet. - A DVL/DuraBlack Chimney Adapter or DuraBlack Slip Connector must be used when connecting DVL or DuraBlack stovepipe to a Ceiling Support, Wall Thimble, or Finishing Collar. A Snap-Lock Adapter must be used when attaching snap-lock stovepipe to DuraPlus.
- A Wall Thimble must be installed with an appropriate section of chimney pipe for all horizontal through-the-wall installations. To accommodate thicker walls a wall thimble extension can be field fabricated.
- An Attic Insulation Shield must be used in all installations that pass through an attic, regardless of whether the attic is insulated or not. If chimney is enclosed in a chase in the attic space, an Attic Insulation Shield is not required.
- A Firestop Radiation Shield must be used when a chimney passes through a floor or ceiling without a Ceiling Support Box.

Planning Your Installation
The following recommendations are a general guideline to assist in the layout and selection of the chimney components needed for your installation. Always follow Duravent Installation instructions before installing your chimney system (enclosed with the cap or support box). Installation instructions can be viewed online at www.duravent.com, under catalogs and instructions.
- The diameter of the chimney should match the outlet size of the appliance. An improperly sized chimney results in poor draft and excessive creosote formation.
- Measure the diameter of the appliance flue outlet. Select the chimney and either DVL or DuraBlack connector stovepipe with the same size diameter as the appliance flue outlet. For fireplace installations, refer to the sizing chart in the back of the DuraTech section of this catalog.
- Determine if the installation is a through-the-roof installation or a through-the-wall installation. A through-the-wall installation will require additional components (Wall Thimble, Tee w/ Cap, Tee Support, and Wall Straps).
- Install the chimney in the interior of the structure whenever possible. A cold exterior chimney will produce less draft and will generate more creosote.
- If possible, avoid offsets that serve to restrict the natural draft. A straight vertical installation is more efficient and less likely to develop creosote. If an offset is required to avoid rafters or other obstructions, measure the horizontal distance required and the vertical height available. Both 15° and 30° elbows are available. Elbows greater than 30° are not allowed in the United States. A maximum of two offsets in a single installation are permitted. Refer to the offset table in the back of this catalog. At least one Elbow Strap is required for each offset. Elbow Straps ensure adequate support.
- Determine the minimum chimney height above the roof line. Building codes require a minimum of 3′ above the roof penetration and at least 2′ higher than any portion of a building within 10′. The termination cap is installed above that point. If chimney is more than 4′ above the roof penetration an Extended Roof Bracket is required.
- Measure the roof pitch. For example, a 6/12 pitch has a vertical rise of 6″ over a horizontal distance of 12″. Select the appropriate flashing.
- Determine the total length of chimney and stovepipe required for the installation. To calculate the installed per length of 6″-8″ DuraPlus chimney pipe, subtract 1 1/2″ per joint. Subtract 1 1/4″ per joint of DuraBlack stovepipe. Subtract 1 1/2″ per joint of DVL stovepipe. Minimum chimney height, at sea level of straight vertical chimney is 10′ to 15′ above the appliance outlet. Higher elevations, or the use of elbows or a tee, will require approximately 30% to 60% more height to provide for an adequate draft.
- Be fire safe. Maintain at least 2″ clearance to combustibles. Follow local building codes and have your chimney inspected by a certified professional.

What comes in the DuraPlus Through the Ceiling Kit, and is the chimney pipe included?
The 6DP-KTUP kit supplies the parts around the pipe, not the pipe itself: a DVL/DuraBlack Chimney Adapter, a Snap-Lock Adapter with Trim, a 24-inch Square Ceiling Support Box with insulation collar and trim, an adjustable 0/12 to 6/12 flashing, a storm collar and the chimney cap. You add the DuraPlus 6-inch chimney lengths and the stovepipe separately.
Which stoves and ceilings can I use this kit with?
It is a 6-inch-only, through-the-roof kit for flat or vaulted ceilings. DuraPlus is a triple-wall, all-fuel chimney listed to UL 103HT for wood, oil, coal and gas appliances such as stoves, fireplaces and furnaces. Match the 6-inch chimney to a 6-inch appliance flue outlet; never use a chimney smaller than the outlet, which hurts draft and builds creosote.
How much DuraPlus pipe do I need to add for a through-the-ceiling install?
Measure from the support box to the cap. A straight vertical chimney needs at least 10 to 15 feet above the appliance outlet at sea level, and the cap must sit 3 feet above the roof penetration and 2 feet above anything within 10 feet. Subtract 1-1/2 inches per joint. If the chimney rises more than 4 feet above the roof, add an Extended Roof Bracket; the support box carries up to 35 feet of pipe.
How does my stovepipe connect to the ceiling support box?
Two adapters are in the box. The stainless DVL/DuraBlack Chimney Adapter locks DuraVent DVL or DuraBlack stovepipe to the support box, and the Snap-Lock Adapter with Trim handles generic snap-lock black pipe. The stovepipe itself is a separate purchase; DuraVent’s DuraBlack single-wall kit or the DVL close-clearance kit both pair with this support box.
What clearance does DuraPlus need, and what goes in the attic?
DuraPlus is listed for 2 inches of air space to combustibles, and the support box must be framed on all four sides. Where the chimney passes through an attic you need an Attic Insulation Shield (sold separately) unless the pipe is enclosed in a chase, and a Firestop Radiation Shield wherever it passes a floor or ceiling without a support box.
Does the flashing fit my roof, and do the joints need screws or sealant?
The included adjustable flashing covers flat to 6/12 pitches; a steeper roof needs the matching DuraPlus flashing instead. Chimney sections twist-lock together, so screws are optional and no joint sealant is required; just never let a screw penetrate the inner liner. Use a non-hardening waterproof sealant where the flashing meets the roof and under the storm collar.

We purchased the 3-person sauna for our outdoor garden. We chose the cube sauna for the aesthetic and could not be happier.
I assembled by myself except for the 2 large panels (requires a few people). Instructions were good - took me two partial Saturdays to complete and a few hours to unpack and organize in advance of assembly. Had my elec. add a NEMA enclosure on the back for the controller and power for lights and a 2nd panel for the wireless control.

Smoking Hot Tub!
I got the Norse Steam SaunaLife wood-fired hot tub, the S4N model, and its been seriously great. It heats up quicker than I expected, usually around an hour and a half, and once its hot, it stays that way for a good long while. The wood-fired system is simple to use, and honestly kind of fun.
The tub itself feels solid and well put together. The thermo-spruce exterior looks beautiful in person, and the fiberglass interior is smooth, deep, and easy to clean. Its the kind of setup that just works without a bunch of fuss, which I really appreciate.
Also, the team at Norse Steam was genuinely great to work with. Super helpful, quick to respond, and made the process really easy from start to finish. It felt like they actually cared that I was happy with it. The tub has totally become a go-to way to unwind, and I wouldnt change a thing.

Great sauna and great customer service
We purchased the Finnmark SD-1 sauna. Maya was extremely helpful with the purchase. We had an issue with the sauna not reaching the maximum temperature, and Maya connected us with the appropriate technician that explained how to correct the issue. The sauna now heats to the maximum temperature (170 degrees) in less than an hour, and it is a great unit.
