DuraVent DuraPlus Through the Wall Kit: the starting parts for an outside chimney
The DuraVent DuraPlus Through the Wall Kit is a set of chimney parts for a stove that vents through an outside wall. It bundles the wall sleeve, adapters, outside supports, tee fitting and chimney cap. The tee turns the chimney upward. Buy the vertical chimney lengths and indoor stovepipe separately. DuraPlus is DuraVent’s triple wall chimney, the insulated pipe that takes over from the stovepipe at the ceiling or wall and runs up past the roof. This kit fits a 6 inch chimney and connects to DVL or DuraBlack stovepipe. Only chimney pipe passes through the wall sleeve, not single wall stovepipe.
The included chimney section and tee have galvanized steel outer walls. You can paint galvanized steel with high temperature paint after cleaning it with water and vinegar. Stainless steel versions are sold separately and are the choice for weather exposure. Leave 2 inches of open air between the chimney and anything that can burn, including framing, insulation and siding. Going straight up instead? See the DuraVent DuraPlus Through the Ceiling Kit for a ceiling route. The DuraVent DuraPlus Through the Wall Kit ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.

FAQ
What is included in the DuraPlus Through the Wall Kit, and what do I still need?
The 6DP-KOUT kit covers the wall pass-through and the base of an exterior chimney: a DVL/DuraBlack Chimney Adapter, a Snap-Lock Adapter with Trim, one 9-inch DuraPlus chimney length, a Wall Thimble, a Tee with Cap, two Wall Straps, a Tee Support Bracket and the chimney cap. The vertical DuraPlus lengths and the interior stovepipe are bought separately.
How thick can my wall be for the 9-inch chimney length in the kit?
The DuraPlus instructions use a 9-inch chimney section for walls under 6 inches thick and a 12-inch section for walls 6 to 9 inches thick, so a thicker wall means swapping in a 12-inch length. For walls beyond that, the Wall Thimble’s telescoping halves can be separated and a field-fabricated extension added, as described in the Instructions tab.
What size hole do I cut, and is the thimble needed in a concrete wall?
Cut 14-1/4-inch diameter holes through the inner and outer walls, centered on the stove’s flue collar; in new framing use the square opening from the manual’s table. DuraVent requires the Wall Thimble whenever DuraPlus passes through any wall, including concrete or block. The Tee Support Bracket mounts with six 5/16 x 3-inch lag screws that are not supplied.
How tall does the outside chimney have to be, and how is it supported?
Plan on at least 10 to 15 feet of chimney above the appliance outlet at sea level, plus roughly 30 to 60 percent more because the tee restricts draft. The cap must clear the roof by 3 feet and anything within 10 feet by 2 feet. The Tee Support carries up to 35 feet of pipe; add a Wall Strap every 8 feet and an Extended Roof Bracket if more than 4 feet rises above the roof.
Are the parts stainless or galvanized, and can I paint them?
In this kit the chimney length and the Tee with Cap have a galvanized outer wall; stainless versions of both are sold individually if you want them for the exposed run. Galvanized DuraPlus can be painted: wash the outer pipe with a vinegar-and-water solution first, then use a high-temperature paint. Keep in mind an exterior chimney runs cooler, so keep the run as straight as possible.
How does the stove connect to the wall thimble inside the room?
Run DuraVent DVL or DuraBlack stovepipe from the stove to the thimble; the included DVL/DuraBlack Chimney Adapter locks either one in, and the Snap-Lock Adapter handles generic black pipe. Single-wall DuraBlack needs 18 inches to combustibles, while double-wall DVL needs only 6 inches to walls, which is why DVL is the usual choice for a rear-exit stove close to the wall.
