DuraVent Model BV Oval Installation Kit: three plates for the wall furnace vent, without pipe
The DuraVent Model BV Oval Installation Kit is a set of support plates for a 4 inch oval gas vent above a gas wall furnace. One base plate attaches the vent to the furnace. Two ceiling plate spacers hold the pipe in place at the first ceiling. These three pieces come together in one box, but the pipe does not. Model BV is DuraVent’s Type B gas vent, the double wall pipe that carries the exhaust from a gas furnace, boiler, or water heater out of the house. Buy the oval pipe, adapter, roof parts, and spacers for any higher ceilings separately.
This kit is for use in the USA only. Oval Model BV is neither sold nor approved in Canada. The 4 inch oval vent is listed for both Type B and Type BW, the vent designation for a recessed wall furnace. For a wall furnace, DuraVent calls for at least 12 feet from the furnace bottom to the cap. Need pipe and an adapter too? The DuraVent Model BV Oval Vent Kit with pipe and adapter adds 4 feet of oval pipe and the connection to round vent. The DuraVent Model BV Oval Installation Kit ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.

FAQ
What is in the Model BV Oval Installation Kit?
Two Oval Ceiling Spacers and one Oval Base Plate, the support and firestop pieces for a run of 4-inch oval Type B gas vent. The base plate carries the vent at the bottom of the run and each ceiling spacer firestops and centers the oval pipe where it passes through a ceiling. The oval pipe itself is bought separately; the kit is sold in the USA only.
What is oval B vent used for?
Oval Type B gas vent is flattened so it fits inside a stud wall. DuraVent’s 4 and 5 inch ovals fit a 2 x 4 or 2 x 6 stud wall and the 6 inch fits a 2 x 6 wall, which is why it is the vent for wall furnaces and other gas appliances vented up through a partition. It serves natural gas or propane Category I, draft-hood appliances only.
What clearance does oval vent need inside the wall?
The same 1 inch of air space to combustibles as round Model BV, maintained by the ceiling spacers and base plate in this kit; the oval has a 1/4-inch annular air space between its aluminum inner and galvanized outer walls. Do not pack insulation into the clearance. For a wall furnace DuraVent requires at least 12 feet from the bottom of the furnace to the cap and a 16-inch stud space.
How does the oval vent join and terminate?
Oval lengths use DuraVent’s button lock. At the top of the wall an Oval-to-Round Adapter converts to round Model BV pipe for the run through the attic and roof, where the standard flashing, storm collar and DuraCap finish the job. The vent must be firestopped at every ceiling, and any vent more than 5 feet above the roof has to be guyed.
Which parts do I add to complete a wall-furnace vent?
Oval pipe lengths for the wall section, an Oval-to-Round Adapter, round Model BV lengths for the attic and roof, a flashing, storm collar and cap, plus an attic insulation shield if the vent crosses insulation. The Oval Vent Kit on the store bundles 4 feet of oval pipe with this kit’s parts; everything else is in the Model BV category.
