DuraVent DuraPlus Elbow Kit: a pair of elbows to route your chimney around framing
The DuraVent DuraPlus Elbow Kit is a pair of chimney elbows with a support strap. It lets the chimney pass around a rafter, ridge beam, or joist. One elbow turns the pipe aside, and the other returns it to vertical. DuraPlus is DuraVent’s triple wall chimney, the insulated pipe that takes over from the stovepipe at the ceiling or wall and runs up past the roof. These bends need extra chimney height to draw smoke properly.
Choose a 6 or 8 inch diameter, then a fixed 15 or 30 degree angle and a galvalume or stainless steel outer wall. Sections connect with a twist, without screws or sealant. Any screws used must stay out of the inner liner. A straight chimney needs at least 10 to 15 feet above the stove outlet. The cap must stand 3 feet above the roof exit and 2 feet above anything within 10 feet. More than 3 feet between elbows? Add a second DuraVent DuraPlus Elbow Strap chimney support. - A DVL/DuraBlack Chimney Adapter or DuraBlack Slip Connector must be used when connecting DVL or DuraBlack stovepipe to a Ceiling Support, Wall Thimble, or Finishing Collar. A Snap-Lock Adapter must be used when attaching snap-lock stovepipe to DuraPlus.
- A Wall Thimble must be installed with an appropriate section of chimney pipe for all horizontal through-the-wall installations. To accommodate thicker walls a wall thimble extension can be field fabricated.
- An Attic Insulation Shield must be used in all installations that pass through an attic, regardless of whether the attic is insulated or not. If chimney is enclosed in a chase in the attic space, an Attic Insulation Shield is not required.
- A Firestop Radiation Shield must be used when a chimney passes through a floor or ceiling without a Ceiling Support Box.

Planning Your Installation
The following recommendations are a general guideline to assist in the layout and selection of the chimney components needed for your installation. Always follow Duravent Installation instructions before installing your chimney system (enclosed with the cap or support box). Installation instructions can be viewed online at www.duravent.com, under catalogs and instructions.
- The diameter of the chimney should match the outlet size of the appliance. An improperly sized chimney results in poor draft and excessive creosote formation.
- Measure the diameter of the appliance flue outlet. Select the chimney and either DVL or DuraBlack connector stovepipe with the same size diameter as the appliance flue outlet. For fireplace installations, refer to the sizing chart in the back of the DuraTech section of this catalog.
- Determine if the installation is a through-the-roof installation or a through-the-wall installation. A through-the-wall installation will require additional components (Wall Thimble, Tee w/ Cap, Tee Support, and Wall Straps).
- Install the chimney in the interior of the structure whenever possible. A cold exterior chimney will produce less draft and will generate more creosote.
- If possible, avoid offsets that serve to restrict the natural draft. A straight vertical installation is more efficient and less likely to develop creosote. If an offset is required to avoid rafters or other obstructions, measure the horizontal distance required and the vertical height available. Both 15° and 30° elbows are available. Elbows greater than 30° are not allowed in the United States. A maximum of two offsets in a single installation are permitted. Refer to the offset table in the back of this catalog. At least one Elbow Strap is required for each offset. Elbow Straps ensure adequate support.
- Determine the minimum chimney height above the roof line. Building codes require a minimum of 3′ above the roof penetration and at least 2′ higher than any portion of a building within 10′. The termination cap is installed above that point. If chimney is more than 4′ above the roof penetration an Extended Roof Bracket is required.
- Measure the roof pitch. For example, a 6/12 pitch has a vertical rise of 6″ over a horizontal distance of 12″. Select the appropriate flashing.
- Determine the total length of chimney and stovepipe required for the installation. To calculate the installed per length of 6″-8″ DuraPlus chimney pipe, subtract 1 1/2″ per joint. Subtract 1 1/4″ per joint of DuraBlack stovepipe. Subtract 1 1/2″ per joint of DVL stovepipe. Minimum chimney height, at sea level of straight vertical chimney is 10′ to 15′ above the appliance outlet. Higher elevations, or the use of elbows or a tee, will require approximately 30% to 60% more height to provide for an adequate draft.
- Be fire safe. Maintain at least 2″ clearance to combustibles. Follow local building codes and have your chimney inspected by a certified professional.

What is in the DuraPlus Elbow Kit, and how do I order the right one?
Two matching elbows and one Elbow Strap. On the page choose the diameter first (6 or 8 inch), then the unit option: each angle is listed twice because DuraPlus elbows come with a galvalume (K) or stainless steel (KSS) outer wall, so pick the angle and finish that match your chimney. The price of each combination shows on the selector; the listed price is the 6-inch galvalume 15-degree pair.
When does a DuraPlus chimney need an elbow kit?
Only to steer around a rafter, ridgepole or joist. The first elbow starts the offset and the second returns the chimney to vertical, which is why they are sold as a pair. DuraPlus allows a maximum of two offsets (four elbows) in one chimney, and DuraVent advises avoiding offsets where possible because a straight vertical run drafts better and collects less creosote.
Can I make an offset bigger than 30 degrees?
No. UL 103 does not permit offsets greater than 30 degrees in the United States, and DuraPlus elbows are fixed at 15 or 30 degrees; the 360-degree swivel at the base only sets the direction. The DuraPlus FAQ sheet also says you cannot start an offset directly on top of a support box: fit a length of pipe first, then the elbows.
How is the offset supported, and how long can it be?
Every offset needs at least one Elbow Strap, which is in the kit; if the chimney run between the two elbows is longer than 3 feet, add a second strap around the middle of that run. DuraVent limits the offset to two 2-foot chimney sections between the elbows, and the offset table in the DuraPlus catalog gives the horizontal reach for each angle.
Do elbows change how much chimney height I need?
Yes. DuraVent’s planning guide calls for roughly 30 to 60 percent more chimney height when elbows or a tee are used, on top of the normal minimum of 10 to 15 feet of straight chimney above the appliance outlet at sea level, to keep an adequate draft. Elbows twist-lock like the pipe; screws are optional and must never penetrate the inner liner.
Will DuraPlus elbows fit a DuraTech or DuraChimney system?
No. DuraPlus is a triple-wall chimney rated to 2100 F and DuraVent does not allow it to be mixed with DuraTech or DuraChimney parts, so these elbows go on DuraPlus chimney pipe only. They keep the system’s 2-inch clearance to combustibles and its UL 103HT listing, and the stainless (KSS) finish is the one to choose for an exposed exterior run.

We purchased the 3-person sauna for our outdoor garden. We chose the cube sauna for the aesthetic and could not be happier.
I assembled by myself except for the 2 large panels (requires a few people). Instructions were good - took me two partial Saturdays to complete and a few hours to unpack and organize in advance of assembly. Had my elec. add a NEMA enclosure on the back for the controller and power for lights and a 2nd panel for the wireless control.

Smoking Hot Tub!
I got the Norse Steam SaunaLife wood-fired hot tub, the S4N model, and its been seriously great. It heats up quicker than I expected, usually around an hour and a half, and once its hot, it stays that way for a good long while. The wood-fired system is simple to use, and honestly kind of fun.
The tub itself feels solid and well put together. The thermo-spruce exterior looks beautiful in person, and the fiberglass interior is smooth, deep, and easy to clean. Its the kind of setup that just works without a bunch of fuss, which I really appreciate.
Also, the team at Norse Steam was genuinely great to work with. Super helpful, quick to respond, and made the process really easy from start to finish. It felt like they actually cared that I was happy with it. The tub has totally become a go-to way to unwind, and I wouldnt change a thing.

Great sauna and great customer service
We purchased the Finnmark SD-1 sauna. Maya was extremely helpful with the purchase. We had an issue with the sauna not reaching the maximum temperature, and Maya connected us with the appropriate technician that explained how to correct the issue. The sauna now heats to the maximum temperature (170 degrees) in less than an hour, and it is a great unit.
