DuraVent Model BV Reducer: one size smaller, not two
The DuraVent Model BV Reducer is a fitting that joins a larger section of gas vent to a smaller one. It takes the run down just one size, never two sizes in a single fitting. Model BV is DuraVent’s Type B gas vent, the double wall pipe that carries the exhaust from a gas furnace, boiler, or water heater out of the house. This reducer is for use in the USA only. Choose the larger end’s diameter on this page: 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 inch. Those choices reduce to 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 inch, respectively.
A reducer’s fit alone does not mean the vent can get smaller. Fuel gas code tables determine whether a reduction is allowed. The vent diameter comes from those tables and the appliance manual, not from DuraVent. The vent must extend at least 5 feet above the appliance’s draft hood, where exhaust enters the vent. More height is needed with a bend in the run or two appliances sharing it. Going larger instead? See the DuraVent Model BV Increaser fitting. The DuraVent Model BV Reducer ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.
