DuraVent PolyPro Vertical Termination Cap Kit Concentric: brings two vent pipes through one roof opening
The DuraVent PolyPro Vertical Termination Cap Kit Concentric is a roof vent kit with appliance adapters included. It brings separate exhaust and combustion air pipes together at one roof opening. The termination, the part that ends the vent above the roof, has one pipe inside another to keep the exhaust and incoming air separate. PolyPro is DuraVent’s polypropylene vent pipe for high efficiency condensing gas boilers, furnaces, and water heaters. Along with the termination, the kit includes two appliance adapters, a co-linear adapter that joins the two pipe paths, two locking clamps, and two adapter connector clamps.
Choose a 2, 3, or 4 inch size, then a black or terra cotta cap. The cap resists damage from sunlight. Roof flashing, the piece that seals around the vent at the roof, is sold separately. DuraVent favors a straight route up through the roof when possible. Your appliance maker sets the allowed vent length and number of elbows. Already have adapters? FAQ
What is in the PolyPro Vertical Termination Cap Kit?
A concentric vertical termination with a UV-resistant black or terra-cotta cap, two appliance adapters, a co-linear adapter, two Locking Clamps and two Adapter Connector clamps. The adapters take the appliance’s twin exhaust and intake outlets into the concentric vent. Choose 2 x 4, 3 x 5 or 4 x 6 inch and the cap color on the selectors.
Do I need a storm collar?
No storm collar is required when the termination is installed with DuraVent’s factory PolyPro flashing, which seals to the concentric outer pipe. Choose the flashing for the roof pitch; the cap ends the exhaust above the roof and draws combustion air in around it, so only one roof penetration is needed.
Which appliances can use this termination?
ANSI Category II and IV condensing gas appliances, high-efficiency water heaters, condensing boilers and warm-air furnaces, whose manual lists PolyPro concentric venting; in the USA PolyPro is listed with the appliance. It is rated to 230 F exhaust and 15 inches water column, higher than PVC or CPVC, and the appliance manual sets the maximum vent length.
What clearance does concentric PolyPro need?
Zero inches to combustibles for concentric components, including this vertical termination, at exhaust temperatures up to 230 F. The plastic vent must still not pass through fire-rated floors or walls without approved firestopping, and firestops are required at each ceiling or floor penetration including an attic.
How are the joints made?
PolyPro joints push together over EPDM or Viton gaskets lubricated with soapy water and are secured with the locking clamps supplied, which are mandatory on every exhaust joint; no sealant is used. Vertical runs need no slope, but the horizontal sections feeding them must fall back to the appliance at 3/8 inch per foot. Pipe and elbows are in the PolyPro category.
