Does the Napoleon Vector 38 need a chimney?
No — the LV38N-1 is a sealed direct vent fireplace, venting through one concentric pipe out a wall or roof. No masonry, no flue, no chimney sweep.
How much heat does the Vector 38 deliver?
Up to 30,000 BTU across its 40.75 x 18.62 in linear viewing area — strong zone heating for living rooms, with the LHAD heat-management system letting installers redirect warmth away from the wall above.
Can a TV be placed over the Vector 38?
That is what its LHAD system enables: part of the heat is ducted away from the cavity above the fireplace so the wall can be finished or fitted with a TV, within the manual’s clearances.
What framing does the Vector 38 require?
A minimum opening of 53.81 in wide x 73 in high x 20.13 in deep — the tall framing height accommodates venting and heat management above the firebox. The unit itself is 53.31 x 41.19 x 19.89 in.
Will the Vector 38 light in a power outage?
Yes. Battery backup on the electronic ignition means the linear flame lights without household electricity — heat when the furnace can’t help.
What does the Vector 38 cost to operate?
About 0.30 therms of natural gas per hour at maximum — roughly 45 cents hourly at typical U.S. rates — with Napoleon’s President’s Limited Lifetime Warranty behind the unit itself.

- Open and inspect the order while the delivery driver is present. If delivery driver does not provide sufficient time to do so, please notate the delivery receipt.
- By signing the delivery receipt without noting any damage or missing items, you confirm that your order arrived complete and in excellent condition.
- Record any damage or missing pieces directly on the delivery receipt.
- Do not discard damaged item(s) or any original packaging. For severe damage, write “Refused due to damage” on the delivery receipt and contact us immediately.
- Report any damage within two business days, including delivery details and photos showing the issue
- Damaged item(s) must be returned within 30 days. Failure to return them will result in a charge to the original payment method.
