If you want a drop-in bbq grill with even heat distribution and simple operation, the classic and gourmet gas versions offer both. On each built-in gas grill, you adjust the burners with control knobs. Each comes configured for natural gas or propane. If you prefer charcoal for your outdoor cooking, choose a 24- or 30-inch width. Both have a crank handle that moves the charcoal pan closer to or farther from your food for heat control. Raise a hot pan close to the grates to sear.
How to choose a drop-in grill for an outdoor kitchen

Before choosing a width, check the listing’s cutout dimensions against your island. The 24-inch charcoal option needs an opening about 24 inches wide, 19 inches deep and 12 inches tall. Each listing has its own measurements. For either charcoal option, you’ll need to order cooking grates separately.

What is a drop-in grill, and how is it different from a built-in grill?
A drop-in grill is a grill head that sets into an island cutout from above. A built-in grill is the same idea, and people use the names almost interchangeably. Either way, your island’s cutout needs to match the spec sheet.
Can I drop a charcoal grill into an island?
Yes, the two charcoal drop-in grills here are made for that, in 24- and 30-inch widths. A crank raises or lowers the charcoal pan. The cooking grates are ordered separately, so add them when you order.
Does a drop-in grill need a cover or a roof over it?
No roof is required. Use a fitted cover when the grill is not in use, because sun and rain work on the knobs and hood. Owners in full sun report no trouble when they keep the grill covered.
