Modern Flames Orion V2 Slim: a slim electric fireplace for a standard wall
The Modern Flames Orion V2 Slim is a slim linear electric fireplace built into a wall. It comes in four widths from 52 to 100 inches. Pick the size on the page. It is low and wide and only about 6 inches deep, so it fits inside a standard 2 by 6 wall. The fire is a high definition video of real flames on a screen, so it looks the same whether you are standing or sitting. The V2 screen shows deeper blacks and brighter flames, and new flame styles arrive through the app. Built in speakers play crackling fire sounds or stream your music over Bluetooth. It is rated for a covered patio as well as indoors, out of rain and direct sun.
It needs no gas line and no chimney. Plug it into a wall outlet on its own circuit. It heats a room of up to 400 square feet with 5,000 BTU. Run the flames with or without heat. It comes with a remote, and you can also run it from your phone with the Modern Flames app. In the box you get the log set, ember bed media, clean face kit for a flush wall finish, and remote. What does engineered for 2 by 6 walls mean in practice?
The unit is only 6-5/16 inches deep, so it fits inside a standard 2 by 6 stud wall. The V2 catalog gives a rough opening of 58-1/2 by 19-1/8 inches and 6-1/2 inches deep for a built-in clean face on the 60 inch model, or a 6 inch minimum finished opening for the self-trimming slide-in, and it can also be wall mounted. Each size has a spec sheet in the Specifications tab.
How does it install after the wall is finished?
The page describes it as installing after finished wall materials as a self-trimming unit, or as a clean-face built-in using the included kit; the catalog explains that swapping the trim kit for the included drywall stops gives the flush finish. Either way you frame the opening, run power, slide the fireplace in, and secure it, then fit the glass and log set per the manual.
How much heat does it give off, and does it plug in?
The manual rates the heater at 1,465 watts, or 5,000 BTU, on 120 volts, which the catalog sizes for spaces up to about 400 square feet; unlike the Multi there is no 240 volt option. A 120 volt plug is included and the unit is hardwire ready, on a dedicated 20-amp circuit, plugged straight into the outlet with no extension cord or power strip. It is supplemental heat.
Can it be installed outside?
Yes. The linked manual is marked approved for indoor and outdoor use and carries the outdoor installation requirements: a covered patio away from direct water and sunlight, with side protection at least half the height measured from the bottom of the fireplace. The warranty statement excludes outdoor installations that do not follow the listing, so plan the cover before you build.
What is the difference between the Orion V2 Slim and the V2 Multi?
Depth and configuration. The Slim is 6-5/16 inches deep, single-sided, 5,000 BTU only, and sized for a 2 by 6 wall; the Multi is 9-9/16 inches deep, can be built as a corner or three-sided bay, reaches 10,000 BTU on 240 volts, and has the deeper firebox for a full-size lit log set. Both share the same LCD flame library, speakers, app, and remote.
What options appear on the selector?
Size first, which sets the price. Then the TruWood selector offers the slim Premium Timber Kit matched to your width, 44-52 for the 52 inch model up to 80-100 for the 100 inch. Choosing 60 inches also unlocks the AllWood Wall System, a wood media wall with a mantel cutout for a 60 inch slim fireplace, with one or two shelf side walls and three finishes.
How is it controlled, and what warranty applies?
Use the touch panel on the fireplace, the included remote, or the Modern Flames + app over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, which adds new flame styles over the air and stores up to six experiences; Bluetooth streams audio through the built-in speakers. A sauna turns your garden into a spa oasis. We debated it for a while, but after renovating our house, we pulled the trigger and bought a sauna from Norse Steam and Maya. Sizing and heating need to be figured out, as does the building, but we have always had a helpful partner on our side. We purchased the 3-person sauna for our outdoor garden. We chose the cube sauna for the aesthetic and could not be happier.
I assembled by myself except for the 2 large panels (requires a few people). Instructions were good - took me two partial Saturdays to complete and a few hours to unpack and organize in advance of assembly. Had my elec. add a NEMA enclosure on the back for the controller and power for lights and a 2nd panel for the wireless control.

Norse Steam, and specifically Maya, were extremely helpful as I was making the decision for our Sauna. I was able to get all of the necessary details to make a decision as construction was happening in my backyard to make space for it.
We absolutely love the CL7G. It is extremely comfortable for 6 people (can fit more less comfortably). The Thermory Spruce and Aspen in the interior smells great. The lighting is lovely. We paired the CL7G with the Harvia Spirit 10.5kw.

Smoking Hot Tub!
I got the Norse Steam SaunaLife wood-fired hot tub, the S4N model, and its been seriously great. It heats up quicker than I expected, usually around an hour and a half, and once its hot, it stays that way for a good long while. The wood-fired system is simple to use, and honestly kind of fun.
The tub itself feels solid and well put together. The thermo-spruce exterior looks beautiful in person, and the fiberglass interior is smooth, deep, and easy to clean. Its the kind of setup that just works without a bunch of fuss, which I really appreciate.
Also, the team at Norse Steam was genuinely great to work with. Super helpful, quick to respond, and made the process really easy from start to finish. It felt like they actually cared that I was happy with it. The tub has totally become a go-to way to unwind, and I wouldnt change a thing.

Great Sauna & Purchase Experience
Great experience purchasing Finnmark FD-2 from Norse Steam. Good communication and easy to assemble. Temperature increases quickly (30 minutes or less to 140) and maintains well. So far this has been a great purchase.

Great sauna and great customer service
We purchased the Finnmark SD-1 sauna. Maya was extremely helpful with the purchase. We had an issue with the sauna not reaching the maximum temperature, and Maya connected us with the appropriate technician that explained how to correct the issue. The sauna now heats to the maximum temperature (170 degrees) in less than an hour, and it is a great unit. We are very happy with it, and we would definitely purchase from NorseSteam if we needed any other items.
