FAQ

What is the Wood Grain finish on this Sedona?

GFRC concrete cast in molds textured like sawn timber, offered in Ebony, Ivory, and Oak. The 27-inch bowl (OPT-27RWGFO) reads as a wooden vessel holding fire, an impossible object, which is exactly the conversation piece effect people buy it for. Nothing about it can burn, rot, or splinter.

Is 27 inches the only size?

In Wood Grain, yes: the single 27-inch casting. If the texture matters more than scale, it is a superb intimate bowl; if you need larger, the Sedona family covers 33-inch GFRC and up to 48-inch powder coat while this finish stays exclusive to the 27.

What comes with it, and how does it run?

Fire pan, burner, whistle-free hose, gas orifice, mounting bracket, and lava rock, plus your pick of Match Lit or Low Voltage Electronic Ignition (CSA Certified). Built to order for Liquid Propane or Natural Gas, with optional key valve installation for at-bowl control.

My town bans wood fires. Does this count?

No, and that is the beautiful irony: the Wood Grain Sedona looks like timber but burns clean gas, so smoke ordinances and burn bans that outlaw actual wood fires generally do not touch it. You may still need a permit for the gas line, so check with your municipality.

Deck placement: doable?

Often, with the right groundwork. No embers means the classic deck fear is gone, but put a non-combustible pad under the bowl, confirm the structure carries the weight, and hold the spec sheet clearances. A licensed gas installer should approve any elevated installation of this concrete fire pit.

How do the three wood tones differ?

Ebony is charred-black and modern, striking against light stone; Ivory is pale driftwood that suits coastal palettes; Oak is the classic mid-brown that reads most like true lumber. All three are cast into the Sedona’s surface, so there is no stain to redo and no veneer to peel.

Can I change fuel type after purchase?

The bowl ships built to order for the one fuel you select, orifice included, so decide between Natural Gas and Liquid Propane up front. If your situation changes later, reach out to us about your specific Sedona configuration; fuel conversion is a guided conversation, not a DIY kit.

The Outdoor Plus — American Made Fire & Water Features

Fire Bowls

Hand-crafted gas fire bowls that turn pool walls, pilasters and patios into the warmest place in the backyard.

A fire bowl is a sealed gas fire feature — a sculptural bowl with a built-in burner that runs on natural gas or liquid propane. No firewood, no embers, no smoke chasing your guests around the patio: turn the key and you have instant, controllable flame. Every bowl in this collection is hand-made in the USA by The Outdoor Plus and arrives with the complete burner system already in the bowl.

Straight from the factory

What’s Included in Your Bowl

Every fire bowl ships as a complete kit — bowl, burner, fire pan, lava rock and plumbing. The only choice you need to make is how you want to light it.

Match Lit / Manual Ignition

The classic setup: open the key valve and light the burner by hand. Nothing electric to wire or maintain — the simplest and most affordable way to run a fire bowl.

  • Lava rock media & stainless burner
  • Fire pan with coupling
  • Gas orifice (Natural Gas or Liquid Propane)
  • Whistle-free flex hose
  • Ventilating mounting plate

Low Voltage / Electronic Ignition

Flip a switch — or wire it into your pool controls — and the pilot igniter lights the bowl for you. Every electronic ignition system runs on a safe low-voltage transformer.

  • Everything in the match lit kit, plus:
  • Pilot igniter for push-button starts
  • SWEIS electronic ignition valve
  • Low-voltage transformer

Good to Know

Natural Gas

NG bowls come with a brass orifice mounted directly under the burner. Plan the gas run so the key valve sits within arm’s reach of the bowl.

Liquid Propane

LP bowls use a brass air-mixer orifice that blends air into the propane for a cleaner-burning flame — no soot staining the bowl or the deck around it.

Lava Rock, Not Glass, for LP

Skip fire glass on propane bowls. Propane is heavier than air and can pool under dense glass media — lava rock lets it breathe. On natural gas, glass is fair game.

Mounting & Ventilation

Bowls ship with a ventilating mounting bracket that anchors the bowl and lets the enclosure breathe. Install it properly — it’s required to keep the warranty valid.

Where fire bowls shine

Designed for the Backyard

Fire bowls belong wherever you want light, warmth and drama — on pool walls and pilasters, flanking steps and spas, or standing alone on a patio pedestal or garden column.

One bowl makes a focal point; a matched pair frames a view; a row down the pool wall turns the whole backyard into a resort. Because every bowl runs on your gas line, the flame is instant, adjustable and clean — no wood to haul, no embers, no smoke.

Fill it your way: lava rock is included, or dress natural gas bowls with fire glass in dozens of colors for a jewel-like glow.

Four ways to build a bowl

Materials & Finishes

GFRC Concrete

Glass-fiber reinforced concrete — the strength of cast concrete at a fraction of the weight, highly resistant to weathering, erosion and heat. Offered in smooth, rustic and metallic finishes from Ash to Vanilla.

Powder Coated Steel

Steel bowls sealed in tough powder-coat finishes engineered for harsh outdoor environments — from Matte Black and Java to White, Copper Vein and Sapphire Blue.

Hammered Copper

Hand-hammered copper with a timeless reddish-brown patina. Long-lived, artisanal, an excellent heat conductor — and it only looks better as it ages.

Stainless Steel

Sleek, modern and virtually immune to rust and corrosion — the right choice for coastal and humid climates, with high heat tolerance for years of safe use.

Every bowl on this page is built to order in the USA by The Outdoor Plus and configured on the product page — size, finish, fuel type and ignition — with free shipping and no sales tax (except WY).
