The Grand Canyon Gas Logs Arizona Weathered Oak Charred log set gives Grand Canyon’s best-selling oak a look that feels right at home in a well-used fireplace. Craftsmen notch the real logs, burn them, and let them cool before casting them. That process captures blackened, charred patches on the rough gray-brown bark, as if the logs had burned in your own fireplace. Two long base logs sit beneath an arch of crossed branches with pale sawn ends. The set comes in sizes of 18, 24, 30, 36, or 42 inches. Each log is made from ceramic fiber and high-temperature concrete with stainless steel mesh inside, then painted by hand in Phoenix, Arizona. The warranty lasts a lifetime indoors and five years outdoors.

Were real logs actually set on fire to create this design?
They were. Grand Canyon’s Log Hunter first selects a perfect set of Arizona Weathered Oak logs. Craftsmen then notch the centers and set them ablaze, letting fire burn through until a genuinely scorched front develops. Once cooled, the burned logs are cast into molds that capture every charred end, and an artist paints each casting to bring the charred wood to life.
Do gas logs need to be vented?
Sets like this one do. The Arizona Weathered Oak Charred collection is a vented product, which means it belongs in a fireplace that can draft to the outdoors, either indoors with a working flue or in an outdoor vented fireplace. That requirement is typical of traditional gas fireplace logs, so plan on a functioning chimney or an open-air installation rather than a sealed firebox.
What does the stainless steel fiber mesh inside the logs do?
It is the skeleton of the casting. Every log is built from high-temperature concrete and ceramic refractory with stainless steel fiber mesh running through the material, the same way rebar strengthens a slab. The mesh keeps each casting rigid and intact through years of direct flame, so the notched, scorched detailing on the charred faces stays crisp.
What sizes does the Arizona Weathered Oak Charred collection come in?
The charred collection is offered in 18, 24, 30, and 36 inch widths. Every size carries the same burned-through styling, because the scorched front is part of the casting itself rather than a surface treatment, so choosing between them is purely a matter of matching your firebox opening.
What is the difference between the millivolt and battery MVKEIK controls?
They solve the same problem two ways. A millivolt valve generates its own tiny electrical current from the pilot flame, so the system runs with no household wiring at all. The battery electronic MVKEIK ignition instead sparks the burner using batteries. Either way the fireplace stays completely independent of house power, which is worth knowing if you want a fire that works on the worst night of winter.
Why do people want gas logs that look already burned?
Because a fresh, untouched log set can look staged, like a fire that has never been lit. The charred collection adds organic beauty and a new style to the Native Series: a deeply scorched front and hand-painted finishes that make the set look as if it has been quietly burning in your own fireplace for years. The effect is a fire that looks lived-in from the very first evening.
Will the charred set work in a see-through fireplace?
Yes. Beyond standard front-view fireplaces, the charred logs are listed for see-through systems as well, and Grand Canyon publishes a dedicated see-through log placement diagram for the 24-inch set. In a double-sided firebox the scorched fronts need thoughtful positioning, and that factory diagram shows the layout the designers intended instead of leaving you to guess.

A sauna turns your garden into a spa oasis. We debated it for a while, but after renovating our house, we pulled the trigger and bought a sauna from Norse Steam and Maya. We purchased the 3-person sauna for our outdoor garden. We chose the cube sauna for the aesthetic and could not be happier.
I assembled by myself except for the 2 large panels (requires a few people). Instructions were good - took me two partial Saturdays to complete and a few hours to unpack and organize in advance of assembly. Had my elec. add a NEMA enclosure on the back for the controller and power for lights and a 2nd panel for the wireless control.

We absolutely love the CL7G. It is extremely comfortable for 6 people (can fit more less comfortably). The Thermory Spruce and Aspen in the interior smells great. The lighting is lovely. We paired the CL7G with the Harvia Spirit 10.5kw.

Smoking Hot Tub!
I got the Norse Steam SaunaLife wood-fired hot tub, the S4N model, and its been seriously great. It heats up quicker than I expected, usually around an hour and a half, and once its hot, it stays that way for a good long while. The wood-fired system is simple to use, and honestly kind of fun.
The tub itself feels solid and well put together. The thermo-spruce exterior looks beautiful in person, and the fiberglass interior is smooth, deep, and easy to clean. Its the kind of setup that just works without a bunch of fuss, which I really appreciate.
Also, the team at Norse Steam was genuinely great to work with. Super helpful, quick to respond, and made the process really easy from start to finish. It felt like they actually cared that I was happy with it. The tub has totally become a go-to way to unwind, and I wouldnt change a thing.

Great experience purchasing Finnmark FD-2 from Norse Steam. Good communication and easy to assemble. Temperature increases quickly (30 minutes or less to 140) and maintains well. So far this has been a great purchase.

Great sauna and great customer service
We purchased the Finnmark SD-1 sauna. Maya was extremely helpful with the purchase. We had an issue with the sauna not reaching the maximum temperature, and Maya connected us with the appropriate technician that explained how to correct the issue. The sauna now heats to the maximum temperature (170 degrees) in less than an hour, and it is a great unit. We are very happy with it, and we would definitely purchase from NorseSteam if we needed any other items.
