Monessen Highland Oak: detailed oak logs with tall yellow flames
The Monessen Highland Oak is a vent free gas log set for the fireplace you already have. It comes 18, 24, or 30 inches wide. Seven cement logs have sharp oak bark and grain detail. The black Natural Blaze burner makes tall yellow flames over a glowing ember bed.
It puts out up to 37,000 BTU and heats up to 1,850 square feet. The price is for the logs. The burner is a required pick on the page, in millivolt or IPI. Order it for natural gas or propane. Vent free means it needs no chimney or vent pipe at all, and nearly all the heat stays in the room. Check your local code first, since some areas restrict vent free heaters. Why does the 24-inch Highland Oak cover so much more area than the 18?
The jump is in the burner rating. The 18-inch set runs 28,000 BTU on natural gas and is rated for spaces up to 1,400 square feet, while the 24-inch steps up to 37,000 BTU and up to 1,850 square feet. Because vent-free gas log sets keep their heat in the room, that single size up adds roughly 450 square feet of coverage.
Why do the two ignition options list different opening widths?
Monessen specs them separately. With intermittent pilot ignition, the 18-inch set wants at least 28-1/2 inches of front width, while the millivolt version fits openings down to 26 inches. The spread continues at 31 versus 29 inches on the 24-inch and 35 versus 33 on the 30-inch. Minimum height and depth hold steady at 17 and 13 inches no matter which ignition you order.
Does the pilot burn gas around the clock?
Not necessarily. Ordered with intermittent pilot ignition, the set uses the IntelliFire Plus system, which lights the pilot only when the fire is called for; saving fuel is one of the benefits Monessen lists for it. If you would rather have the simplest possible control, the same logs can be ordered with a millivolt ignition instead of the electronic system.
Can the fire hold a set room temperature?
It can be controlled that way. The set ships remote ready, and Monessen’s accessory lineup for it includes thermostatic handheld and touchscreen remotes such as the TSST Thermostatic Touch, alongside a basic on-off model. Pair one of the thermostatic controls and the fire cycles to hold the comfort level you choose rather than running at a fixed setting until you turn it down.
What kind of hearth suits the Highland Oak look?
This is a classic stacked-oak fire, cast in refractory cement for what Monessen calls life-like realism and exquisite detail, so it belongs anywhere a real wood fire would look at home. The burner beneath wears a black finish that recedes into the hearth, leaving the logs and the lively yellow flames as the whole show in a traditional or updated fireplace alike.
How many BTUs should a gas log set have?
Match the rating to the space you want warmed. As a reference from this line: 28,000 BTU on natural gas is rated for rooms up to 1,400 square feet, and 37,000 BTU stretches to 1,850 square feet in the 24-inch and 30-inch versions. Propane ratings run about a thousand lower, at 27,000 and 36,000 BTU, so size with a little margin if you heat with LP.
Does Monessen document how the logs go together?
Yes. Alongside the owner’s manual, Monessen publishes a dedicated Highland Oak log placement sheet covering the HO18-R, HO24-R, and HO30-R sets. Keep it with your paperwork: the cast pieces are meant to sit in particular spots, and the placement document shows exactly how the finished stack should look for each of the three sizes before you light the first fire.

We purchased the 3-person sauna for our outdoor garden. We chose the cube sauna for the aesthetic and could not be happier.
I assembled by myself except for the 2 large panels (requires a few people). Instructions were good - took me two partial Saturdays to complete and a few hours to unpack and organize in advance of assembly. Had my elec. add a NEMA enclosure on the back for the controller and power for lights and a 2nd panel for the wireless control.

Norse Steam, and specifically Maya, were extremely helpful as I was making the decision for our Sauna. I was able to get all of the necessary details to make a decision as construction was happening in my backyard to make space for it.
We absolutely love the CL7G. It is extremely comfortable for 6 people (can fit more less comfortably). The Thermory Spruce and Aspen in the interior smells great. The lighting is lovely. We paired the CL7G with the Harvia Spirit 10.5kw.

Smoking Hot Tub!
I got the Norse Steam SaunaLife wood-fired hot tub, the S4N model, and its been seriously great. It heats up quicker than I expected, usually around an hour and a half, and once its hot, it stays that way for a good long while. The wood-fired system is simple to use, and honestly kind of fun.
The tub itself feels solid and well put together. The thermo-spruce exterior looks beautiful in person, and the fiberglass interior is smooth, deep, and easy to clean. Its the kind of setup that just works without a bunch of fuss, which I really appreciate.
Also, the team at Norse Steam was genuinely great to work with. Super helpful, quick to respond, and made the process really easy from start to finish. It felt like they actually cared that I was happy with it. The tub has totally become a go-to way to unwind, and I wouldnt change a thing.

Great Sauna & Purchase Experience
Great experience purchasing Finnmark FD-2 from Norse Steam. Good communication and easy to assemble. Temperature increases quickly (30 minutes or less to 140) and maintains well. So far this has been a great purchase.

Great sauna and great customer service
We purchased the Finnmark SD-1 sauna. Maya was extremely helpful with the purchase. We had an issue with the sauna not reaching the maximum temperature, and Maya connected us with the appropriate technician that explained how to correct the issue. The sauna now heats to the maximum temperature (170 degrees) in less than an hour, and it is a great unit. We are very happy with it, and we would definitely purchase from NorseSteam if we needed any other items.
