Modern Flames Orion V2 Traditional: an electric insert for your existing fireplace opening
The Modern Flames Orion V2 Traditional is an electric fireplace insert for an existing fireplace opening. An insert slides into the fireplace opening you already have, so an old wood fireplace becomes an electric one. It can also be built into a new wall. It comes in five widths from 26 to 54 inches. Pick the size on the page. Lit real wood logs sit over a glowing ember bed. The fire is a high definition video of real flames on a screen, so it looks the same whether you are standing or sitting. The V2 screen shows deeper blacks and brighter flames, and new flame styles arrive through the app. Built in speakers play crackling fire sounds or stream your music over Bluetooth. It is rated for a covered patio as well as indoors, out of rain and direct sun. Outdoors, it must be built in.
It needs no gas line and no chimney. Plug it into a wall outlet on its own circuit. It heats a room of up to 400 square feet with 5,000 BTU. On the 36, 42, and 54 inch sizes an electrician can hardwire it for 8,300 BTU and a room of about 700 square feet. Run the flames with or without heat. It comes with a remote, and you can also run it from your phone with the Modern Flames app. In the box you get the real wood lit log set, the ember bed media, the clean face kit for building it into a new wall, and the remote. What changed from the original Orion Traditional to the V2?
The V2 catalog describes a next-generation LCD with deeper blacks and adaptive brightness, 24 flame options out of the box with three flagship multi-dimensional styles, new styles delivered over the air through the Modern Flames + app, and built-in speakers with Bluetooth streaming and three crackling soundscapes. The lit log set is now cut from real split wood over an active ember bed.
Can it replace an existing fireplace?
Yes. The page lists three installation options: retrofit into an existing fireplace opening, self-trimming into a finished opening, or built-in clean face with the included kit. For retrofits, the surround trim kits on the selector cover the gap around the 26, 30, and 36 inch models, and the TruWood selector adds a premium timber log kit if you want more realism.
How much heat does the Orion V2 Traditional produce?
The installation manual rates it at 1,465 watts, or 5,000 BTU, on 120 volts, and notes the larger sizes can be wired for 2,500 watts and 8,300 BTU. The catalog frames the 26 and 30 inch models as 5,000 BTU for up to about 400 square feet and the 36, 42, and 54 inch models as dual 120/240 volt for up to about 700 square feet. It is supplemental heat.
What electrical circuit is required?
A dedicated 20-amp circuit per the manual. A 120 volt plug is included and the unit is hardwire ready; the 240 volt option on the larger sizes needs a qualified electrician and a two-pole breaker. Plug directly into the outlet, never into an extension cord or power strip, and do not cut power during Wi-Fi pairing or updates.
Is the V2 Traditional rated for outdoor use?
Yes, with conditions. The page lists it as rated for indoor and outdoor use, and the installation manual linked in the Manuals tab approves outdoor installation only as a built-in, under a patio cover and away from direct water and sunlight, following the outdoor installation requirements in that manual. Note the linked warranty statement excludes any product installed outdoors that is not listed for outdoor use.
What warranty does it carry?
The Modern Flames warranty statement linked in the Manuals tab gives 5 years from purchase when you register the product at modernflames.com, otherwise a standard 2 years, with integrated screens covered for 1 year. A sauna turns your garden into a spa oasis. We debated it for a while, but after renovating our house, we pulled the trigger and bought a sauna from Norse Steam and Maya. She was always super responsive and helpful throughout the process. Don't kid yourself, getting a really nice sauna is not that easy. Sizing and heating need to be figured out, as does the building, but we have always had a helpful partner on our side. We purchased the 3-person sauna for our outdoor garden. We chose the cube sauna for the aesthetic and could not be happier.
I assembled by myself except for the 2 large panels (requires a few people). Instructions were good - took me two partial Saturdays to complete and a few hours to unpack and organize in advance of assembly. Had my elec. add a NEMA enclosure on the back for the controller and power for lights and a 2nd panel for the wireless control.

Norse Steam, and specifically Maya, were extremely helpful as I was making the decision for our Sauna. I was able to get all of the necessary details to make a decision as construction was happening in my backyard to make space for it.
We absolutely love the CL7G. It is extremely comfortable for 6 people (can fit more less comfortably). The Thermory Spruce and Aspen in the interior smells great. The lighting is lovely. We paired the CL7G with the Harvia Spirit 10.5kw.

Smoking Hot Tub!
I got the Norse Steam SaunaLife wood-fired hot tub, the S4N model, and its been seriously great. It heats up quicker than I expected, usually around an hour and a half, and once its hot, it stays that way for a good long while. The wood-fired system is simple to use, and honestly kind of fun.
The tub itself feels solid and well put together. The thermo-spruce exterior looks beautiful in person, and the fiberglass interior is smooth, deep, and easy to clean. Its the kind of setup that just works without a bunch of fuss, which I really appreciate.
Also, the team at Norse Steam was genuinely great to work with. Super helpful, quick to respond, and made the process really easy from start to finish. It felt like they actually cared that I was happy with it. The tub has totally become a go-to way to unwind, and I wouldnt change a thing.

Great Sauna & Purchase Experience
Great experience purchasing Finnmark FD-2 from Norse Steam. Good communication and easy to assemble. Temperature increases quickly (30 minutes or less to 140) and maintains well. So far this has been a great purchase.

Great sauna and great customer service
We purchased the Finnmark SD-1 sauna. Maya was extremely helpful with the purchase. We had an issue with the sauna not reaching the maximum temperature, and Maya connected us with the appropriate technician that explained how to correct the issue. The sauna now heats to the maximum temperature (170 degrees) in less than an hour, and it is a great unit. We are very happy with it, and we would definitely purchase from NorseSteam if we needed any other items.
