Detroit Radiant ELX 33 Inch Heater: an electric patio heater with up to three elements
The Detroit Radiant ELX 33 Inch Heater is an electric patio heater. Its glowing quartz elements sit in black powder coated steel or brushed stainless steel. It mounts overhead with included adjustable brackets, or on a wall with optional brackets. Minimum mounting heights range from 6 to 9 feet, depending on element count. Radiant heat warms people and surfaces directly, like sunshine, instead of warming the air, so it works outdoors. Detroit Radiant Products is a family owned company founded in 1955 that builds its heaters in Warren, Michigan.
Choose one, two, or three heating elements and high output or standard lamps. High output gives 2,125 watts per element, up to 6,375 watts. Standard gives 1,250 watts per element and a soft orange glow with almost no visible light. An electrician wires it to the voltage you pick on the page; it is not a plug in heater. All components carry a one year warranty. Need more length? See the Detroit Radiant ELX 46 Inch Heater electric patio heater. The Detroit Radiant ELX 33 Inch Heater ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.

FAQ
Single, dual or triple elements on the 33 inch?
The Elements selector sets the count, each step priced there. With high-output ELXT lamps that means 2,125, 4,250 or 6,375 watts, about 7,251 to 21,753 BTU per hour, and with standard ELXM lamps 1,250, 2,500 or 3,750 watts per the Specifications tab. More elements also raise the minimum mounting height from 6 feet to 7.5 and then 9 feet.
What voltages are offered on this chassis?
Single and dual element units run 208, 240, 277 or 480 volts and the triple 277 or 480 on the Voltage selectors, single phase. The ELX data sheet notes the standard ELXM lamp is not built above 277 volts on this length, so pick the element type and the supply together; wattage is tied to voltage.
What are the clearances?
The ELX clearance sheet in the Manuals tab applies to every length: a single element needs 16 inches to the sides and ends, 12 above and 56 below; a double 28, 28, 26 and 86; a triple 31, 31, 34 and 105, all measured level. Units tilted up to 45 degrees must meet the larger of the 0 or 45 degree figures, and recessed kits do not reduce them.
Can I change the element type later?
Yes, the brochure describes ELX lamps as interchangeable across medium wave, high-output medium wave, clear short wave and ruby short wave. This listing ships with ELXT high-output or ELXM standard medium wave per the Element Type selector; ELXT matches short wave heat with about 30 percent less light, ELXM glows soft orange with roughly half the wattage.
What mounting hardware and accessories fit?
The 0 to 45 degree adjustable brackets are included per the brochure. Stainless wall mounting brackets sit on the main Accessories selector, and the count-specific selectors add a 33 inch wire guard for single, dual or triple units plus 33 inch recessed mount kits in black or stainless for single and dual units; the triple takes the wire guard only.
Where can it be installed and what warranty applies?
UL listed for indoor and outdoor commercial use and outdoor residential use, with a 1 year warranty on all components and a black or brushed stainless housing chosen on the Finish selector. It produces both heat and visible light. Browse our other electric patio heaters for the 24 and 46 inch versions.
