Detroit Radiant ELD 33 Inch Dual Element Heater: two elements for a wider strip of patio
The Detroit Radiant ELD 33 Inch Dual Element Heater is an electric heater for wider patio seating areas. It is 33 inches long. Choose black powder coated steel or brushed stainless steel. Included adjustable brackets mount it to a ceiling as low as 6 feet. At home, it belongs outdoors, not in a room. Detroit Radiant Products is a family owned company founded in 1955 that builds its heaters in Warren, Michigan.
Its two glowing quartz elements sit side by side, giving more heat per foot than a single element ELX heater. Choose high output elements for 4,000 to 4,250 watts and mild white light, or standard elements for 2,500 watts and softer light. Radiant heat warms people and surfaces directly, like sunshine, instead of warming the air, so it works outdoors. An electrician wires it to the voltage you pick on the page; it is not a plug in heater. All components have a one year warranty. Need a longer heater? See the Detroit Radiant ELD 46 Inch Dual Element Heater. The Detroit Radiant ELD 33 Inch Dual Element Heater ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.

FAQ
Where does the 33 inch sit in the ELD range?
Between the 24 and 46 inch chassis: two elements giving 2,500 watts with standard ELDM lamps or 4,000 to 4,250 watts with high-output ELDT lamps, about 8,530 to 14,501 BTU per hour per the Specifications tab. It keeps the 24 inch model’s 6 foot minimum mounting height while covering a wider strip of patio or bench seating.
Which voltage should I order?
The Voltage selector runs 120, 208, 240, 277 or 480 volts, single phase, but the element type sets the usable range: the ELD data sheet builds the standard ELDM 33 inch for 120 to 277 volts and the high-output ELDT for 208 to 480 volts. Wattage tracks voltage, so confirm the circuit at the mounting point before you pick the element.
What clearances does it need?
The ELD clearance sheet linked in the Manuals tab lists, for a level ELDT 33 inch, 24 inches to the sides and ends, 16 inches above and 46 inches below, with a 6 foot minimum mounting height; the ELDM version needs 18 inches sideways and 38 below. Tilted up to 30 degrees, the side clearance grows to 39 inches, and a unit set between angles must satisfy the larger figure.
Is it OK on a home patio?
Yes outdoors. The brochure lists UL approval for indoor and outdoor commercial use and outdoor residential use, so a covered home patio qualifies while an indoor room does not. Expect some visible light: the ELDT lamp gives a mild white glow about 30 percent dimmer than short wave, and the ELDM a soft white light suited to dining areas.
What mounting hardware is included?
The 0 to 30 degree adjustable brackets come with the heater per the brochure, and the manual notes they are not needed for chain suspension. For a sidewall install add the stainless wall mounting brackets from the Accessories selector, which also carries the 33 inch double-element wire guard and 33 inch recessed mount kits in black or stainless, priced on the selector.
What finish, lamps and warranty?
Black powder-coated aluminized steel is the base finish and brushed 304 stainless is priced on the Finish selector; spare 33 inch standard or high-output medium wave lamps are on the Replacement Lamps selector. The warranty is 1 year on all components. Compare it with our other ceiling patio heaters for larger areas.
