DuraVent DuraFlex Stainless 5 1/2 inch Reducer: connecting a smaller liner to a 6 inch outlet
The DuraVent DuraFlex Stainless 5 1/2 inch Reducer is a fitting that connects a 5 1/2 inch chimney liner to a 6 inch appliance outlet. It sits at the appliance end of the liner, where the chimney passage is too narrow for a 6 inch liner. DuraVent says to check with the appliance maker before using a smaller vent. The liner diameter normally matches the appliance outlet or the vent pipe entering the chimney. Going smaller requires sizing by a qualified person. DuraFlex Stainless is DuraVent’s flexible stainless steel liner for relining a masonry chimney that vents a wood, pellet, oil, or gas appliance.
This reducer can also connect the liner to stovepipe where the stove vents through a masonry wall. Relining puts a new exhaust pipe inside the old chimney passage. Cracked or missing clay tiles, or a passage much too large for the appliance, can cause fire and draft problems. A stainless liner keeps exhaust away from damaged masonry. Joining liner sections instead? See the DuraVent DuraFlex Stainless Connector for liner or pipe joints. The DuraVent DuraFlex Stainless 5 1/2 inch Reducer ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.
