DuraVent PelletVent Adjustable Roof Flashing: a tilting cone for shingle roofs
The DuraVent PelletVent Adjustable Roof Flashing is a galvalume cover for the opening where your pellet stove vent passes through a shingle roof. Its cone tilts to match roof slopes from flat to 6 in 12. A steeper roof needs different flashing. The upper edge slips beneath the shingles above the pipe. Choose the 3 inch or 4 inch size to match your vent. A storm collar, which covers the gap around the pipe, is required. PelletVent is DuraVent’s double wall pellet stove vent: a stainless steel inner pipe inside a galvalume outer pipe, sold in 3 and 4 inch sizes.
High temperature sealant goes on the stove outlet before the appliance adapter slides over it, and beneath the storm collar where it meets the pipe and flashing. The stove maker’s instructions determine whether pipe joints also need sealant. A roof cap must stand at least 12 inches above the roof. For a wall exit, the cap extends at least 6 inches outside and points down to keep rain and snow out. A wall thimble forms the sleeve through that wall.
