Fire Magic Choice C650i Built In Grill: a 36 inch gas grill that needs no outlet
The Fire Magic Choice C650i Built In Grill is a 36 inch built in gas grill. Built in means it slides into a cutout in an outdoor kitchen island, so it has no legs of its own. Choice is the value line for a first outdoor kitchen. Fire Magic builds it in the USA from 304 stainless steel, the grade that holds up best outdoors. Three stainless steel tube burners give 69,000 BTUs. It gives you about 650 square inches of cooking space plus a warming rack.
The grates are Diamond Sear grids, thick stainless steel bars with a flat top for clean sear marks, and flavor grids under them turn drippings into smoke and keep flare ups down. The double walled hood holds heat like an oven and lifts with two fingers. It lights with a spark when you turn the knob, so it needs no electricity and no batteries. A dial in the hood shows the oven heat at a glance. On the page you pick natural gas or propane, and it comes built for that gas. Fire Magic covers the burners, the cooking grids, and the body for as long as you own the grill. Need something smaller? See the Fire Magic Choice C540i Built In Grill. The Fire Magic Choice C650i Built In Grill ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.

FAQ
How big is the Choice C650i?
It is the 36-inch member of the Choice line: a 36 by 18 inch primary grid, or 648 square inches, with a 36 by 8 inch warming rack above it. Three 16-gauge tubular stainless burners deliver 69,000 BTUs under patented Diamond Sear cooking grids and 304 stainless flavor grids.
Does it really need no electricity?
Correct. The description states the grill needs no batteries or electricity: the turn-to-light ignition sparks when you press and turn a knob, and the hood thermometer is analog. The manual also includes a match holder in the drip tray for manual lighting, and it cautions to open only one valve at a time.
What cutout does this 36-inch grill need?
Cut the countertop 37 3/4 inches wide, 19 1/2 inches deep and 11 1/2 inches high, with a 38 3/4 inch control panel width per the Fire Magic spec guide, which lists a dedicated insulating liner for the C650i in combustible enclosures. Use a non-combustible countertop and keep 18 inches of clearance from combustibles.
Can I smoke or cook low and slow on it?
The heavy-gauge warming rack adjusts between two positions and is 12 inches deep, which the Features tab recommends for smoking or low and slow cooking above indirect heat. With three burners you can run one side and hold food on the rack over the unlit side under the double-walled hood.
Natural gas or propane?
Both. Select on the Gas Type selector; C650I-RT1N is natural gas and C650I-RT1P propane. Order the correct fuel from the start. If a propane cylinder will sit inside the island, follow the manual’s ventilation and cylinder rules. Compare sizes in built-in grills.
How does the hood work?
The double-walled 304 stainless hood holds heat for even cooking and opens a full 90 degrees for access and exhaust, on a Teflon-coated spring assist that makes it light to lift. The analog thermometer with a polished bezel is set into the hood at a forward angle for easy reading.
What warranty comes with it?
The Fire Magic spec guide linked in the Catalog tab lists the coverage for the Choice line: stainless steel burners, cooking grids and the grill housing for as long as the original purchaser owns the grill, valves and manifolds for 15 years, flavor grids for 5 years and the ignition system for 1 year, single-family residential use.
