Majestic Pioneer III: a wood fireplace that heats up to 3,000 square feet
The Majestic Pioneer III is a large EPA certified wood burning fireplace built into an indoor wall. EPA certified means it burns wood so cleanly and completely that it counts as a heater, not just a fireplace. It heats 1,200 to 3,000 square feet, the largest range in the Pioneer family. The firebox holds logs up to 24 inches long for overnight heating. Smart Burn adjusts the air to the fire by itself, so you spend less time tending it.
Your builder frames a wall around it, runs the chimney, and finishes it in stone, tile, or brick. The chimney pipe is sold separately, so ask us to quote the run. On the page you pick an arched or rectangular front style. You can add a black Mission front, a Heat Zone duct kit, or a mantel shelf. Heat Zone is a duct kit that carries warm air from the fireplace to another room, so you can turn the furnace down. Need to heat less space? See the Majestic Pioneer II wood fireplace. The Majestic Pioneer III ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.

FAQ
What does Smart Burn Technology actually do?
The Features tab explains that Smart Burn automatically adjusts the fire for an efficient, clean burn, and the page credits it with cutting home heating costs by up to 50 percent. In practice you load the 4.1 cubic foot firebox, set the fire and let the unit manage the air rather than fiddling with a damper all evening.
How large a home can the Pioneer III heat?
It is rated for 1,200 to 3,000 square feet on the Specifications tab, the largest range in the Pioneer line. The Heat Zone feature accepts up to two ducts to carry warmth into other rooms; the heat distribution kit for that is on this page under Venting and Hearth, priced on the selector.
How big are the logs it takes?
Up to 24 inches long. The Features tab lists a massive 4.1 cubic foot firebox built for overnight heating, and the viewing area is 341 square inches. Compared with the 2.7 cubic foot Pioneer II, this is the model to choose when you want to load less often and heat more floor space.
Which chimney pipe fits it?
The architect guide says it uses HHT SL300 series pipe with a 10 inch outer and 8 inch inner diameter; DuraPlus 8 inch pipe with a 12 inch outer diameter can be used with a new starting collar. Allow 14-1/2 inches of cavity depth for SL300 or 16 inches for DuraPlus, and keep 2 inches of air space around the pipe.
Do the arched and rectangular fronts change the price or accessories?
The Front Style selector is a free choice, but it changes the decorative front options: the arch pairs with Mission Arch or a forged arch front in black, the rectangle with the Mission Rectangular front. Each style has its own metal finishing template. Prices for those fronts are shown on the selector as you configure the order.
Does it have a blower?
The architect guide shows a blower electrical access on the right side and asks for 12 inches of cavity depth if the fan air duct needs an elbow, so plan an electrical connection at the fireplace. Framing is 51 inches wide, 63-1/4 inches tall and 24-1/2 inches deep; the unit is 47-7/8 by 47-1/4 by 23-1/2 inches.
What mantel and hearth clearances apply?
A combustible mantel sits 66 inches above the fireplace base, measured to its lower edge, and the hearth extension must be 20 inches in front and 8 inches to each side of the fuel opening. The guide also lists UL 127, HUD and ULC S610 listings. Compare sizes across our wood burning indoor fireplaces.
