Real Fyre Charred Royal English Oak See Thru: a deeply charred oak fire for two rooms
The Real Fyre Charred Royal English Oak See Thru is a vented gas log set for a fireplace that opens into two rooms. The logs copy knotted Royal English oak that has burned for hours, with deep char on both faces. This is the widest see through set in the Charred Series. It is made for a see through fireplace, one that opens into two rooms, and the logs are finished on both sides so both rooms get the same fire. It is a vented set, so it needs a real fireplace with a working chimney and burns with the damper open. You get the tallest and most natural flames, and most of the heat goes up the chimney. It comes in six sizes, from 18 to 42 inches. Measure your firebox at the front, at the back, and front to back, and if you land between two sizes, take the smaller set.
Each log is molded from a real piece of wood, cast in a ceramic made for high heat with a steel rod inside, and painted by hand. The price is for the logs only. On the page you pick natural gas or propane and add the G45-2 see through burner, in plain or stainless steel. You also pick how it lights: by hand with a match on natural gas, with a knob and a pilot light that stays lit, or with a remote. A Fyreback, a steel panel that stands behind the fire, is optional. FAQ
What does the second room actually see with this set?
The same fire the first room does. The CHB-2 carries its knotted Royal English Oak charring on both faces, so the living side and the dining side each get finished logs with flames rising through them – no privileged viewing angle, which is the entire point of a see-thru set.
How wide can a see-thru charred set go?
Wider than you might expect: the CHB-2 runs 18/20, 24, 30, 36 and up to 42 inches, the longest see-thru reach in the Charred Series. The other two-sided charred stacks stop at 30, so large dual-opening fireboxes land here almost by default.
What hardware sits underneath the logs?
The G45-2 burner system, in standard or stainless steel – the dual-sided vented platform built for pass-through fireboxes. It comes factory-set for natural gas or propane. Single-face burners are not an option for the CHB-2; the two-sided flame spread is the whole architecture.
What does lighting this set involve?
Whatever valve you specified on the G45-2: strike a long fireplace match at the port on a match-lit system, set a standing pilot once a season and turn the key thereafter, or fire electronic ignition from a switch. The CHB-2 logs themselves never need touching to light.
How durable is a two-sided ceramic set?
Same bones as every Real Fyre stack: refractory ceramic that holds strength at high temperature, with a steel rod through each log. Since a vented flame decorates rather than devours the CHB-2, expect many seasons of service – double-sided viewing does not mean double the wear.
Does feeding two rooms burn twice the gas?
No – there is one burner under the CHB-2, not two. Gas use follows the G45-2 BTU rating for your size, exactly as with a single-face set of the same width. You are splitting one fire between two rooms, not running two fires; the single-sided Charred Series sets draw comparably.
Is a remote included with the CHB-2?
Nothing in the spec says so, and you should assume not – remotes belong to the burner and valve configuration you select at purchase. If couch-side control matters, order the G45-2 with a remote-ready valve up front; changing controls later is possible but rarely cheaper.
