Real Fyre Split Oak: a vented gas log set with freshly split oak detail
The Real Fyre Split Oak is a vented gas log set. It copies a freshly split stack of oak, with exposed grain on the split faces. Weathered bark on other logs gives it a familiar wood fire look for a family room. It is a vented set, so it needs a real fireplace with a working chimney and burns with the damper open. You get the tallest and most natural flames, and most of the heat goes up the chimney. It comes in 18, 20, 24, or 30 inch sets. Measure your firebox at the front, at the back, and front to back, and if you land between two sizes, take the smaller set.
Each log is molded from a real piece of wood, cast in a ceramic made for high heat with a steel rod inside, and painted by hand. The price is for the logs only. On the page you pick natural gas or propane and add the burner. The choices are the G45, the G45 in stainless steel for an outdoor fireplace, or the G46, which hides its controls. You also pick how it lights: by hand with a match on natural gas, with a knob and a pilot light that stays lit, or with a remote. A Fyreback, a steel panel that stands behind the fire, is optional. FAQ
What look does the Split Oak set recreate?
A freshly split stack of oak: cleaved faces with exposed grain on some logs, weathered bark on others. Each S set is a hand-painted original in Real Fyre’s Designer Series, modeled from real wood samples, so the color shifts and texture read as genuine split cordwood rather than a generic log shape.
How many sizes does the S series offer?
Four: the S-18, S-20, S-24, and S-30 cover fireboxes from roughly 18 to 30 inches wide. If your opening measures between two of those sizes, choose the smaller set so the burner and log stack keep proper clearance inside the firebox.
Which burners pair with the Split Oak logs?
The spec lists four vented systems: G4, G45, G45 in stainless steel, and G46. All are configured at the factory for natural gas or propane, and all run with the damper open. Your choice mainly sets ignition style and flame character; the S logs stack the same way on each.
Is there a trick to arranging the logs?
Follow the Split Oak placement diagram rather than improvising. Each log in the S set sits in a specific position over the burner so flames rise past the split faces without impinging where they should not. Logs shifted off their intended spots are the most common cause of sooting.
What are gas logs, exactly?
Ceramic replicas of real firewood arranged over a gas burner, giving you a wood-fire look with no splitting, hauling, or ash. The Split Oak set is a classic example: sculpted and painted to imitate a split stack, it sits in your existing fireplace and burns at the turn of a valve.
What are the logs themselves made from?
Superior refractory ceramics that hold their strength at high temperatures, with a steel reinforcement rod inside each log and high-definition bark detail taken from real wood. That construction lets the S logs radiate warmth while the fire runs, like the rest of the Real Fyre Designer Series.
Do gas logs come with a remote control?
Not automatically. Remote and wall-switch operation depends on the burner and valve package you order with the Split Oak set: match-lit systems are manual, while safety-pilot and electronic setups can add remote control. Decide how you want to start the fire before you configure the burner.
