The Plunge Supplier GD-8201 Cold Plunge Tub with Chiller: an oval acrylic tub for lying down soaks
The Plunge Supplier GD-8201 Cold Plunge Tub with Chiller is a one person oval acrylic tub kit for indoor or sheltered outdoor use. Step over the side and lie down for a soak. It measures 67 by 32 by 24 inches or 71 by 34 by 24 inches. Both sizes hold 92 gallons. The chiller is a separate box that sits beside the tub and connects with the hoses in the kit. It runs on a standard 120 volt household outlet, so no electrician is needed.
The included 1 horsepower chiller cools and heats from 38 to 108 degrees Fahrenheit. A paper filter catches debris, while ozone gas treats the water to reduce chemical use. There’s a color changing underwater light. Set the temperature on the control panel or through the Tuya or Smart Life phone app. The kit includes thermal covers, hoses, connectors, seals, two filter cartridges, and a filter wrench. Pick your tub size on this page, with an optional Promax chiller upgrade or acrylic bath deck. Need more legroom? See the Plunge Supplier GD-8115 Cold Plunge Tub with Chiller. FAQ
Is the chiller included with the GD-8201, or sold separately?
It is included. The Includes tab lists the IA-10HC 1 HP chiller with heating and cooling, plus the hoses, connectors and seals that link it to the tub. If you want more cooling capacity, the page offers an upgrade to the Promax chiller on the Select to Upgrade Your Chiller option; the price difference is shown right there.
What is the difference between the 67-inch and 71-inch sizes?
The Size selector switches between two shells of the same oval design. The spec sheet lists them as 1700 x 800 x 600 mm, about 67 x 31.5 x 24 inches, and 1800 x 850 x 600 mm, about 71 x 33.5 x 24 inches, so both stand about 24 inches tall. Both are rated at roughly 92 gallons, so the larger size mainly buys extra leg and shoulder room.
How much space does the external chiller need?
The chiller spec sheet lists the 1 hp unit at about 14.6 x 21.7 x 22.8 inches and roughly 88 lb. It sits beside the tub connected by the supplied hoses, so leave room for it plus clear air around the intake and fan so it can shed heat. Keep it under cover and off wet ground where you can.
What kind of outlet does the chiller run on?
The chiller spec sheet lists a 110 V supply with about 1,150 W input and a 3,210 W cooling capacity, so it plugs into a normal household circuit rather than needing 240 V. Use a grounded outlet, follow the manual on GFCI protection and local electrical code, and avoid sharing the circuit with other heavy loads.
How cold does the water get, and can it heat as well?
The Specifications tab lists a range of 38 F to 108 F, and the chiller is a dual-function unit so the same machine cools for ice-bath sessions and warms the water for a soak. Real-world pull-down time depends on ambient temperature and on keeping the thermal covers on between plunges.
How much setup is involved with a tub-plus-chiller kit?
Place the acrylic tub, set the chiller beside it, connect the supplied hoses and seals to the tub fittings, fill with a hose and plug in. There is no permanent plumbing, so it can move with you. Two people should handle the tub. Other tub-and-chiller combinations are in the cold plunge with chiller collection.
How is the water kept clean?
The chiller runs the water through a 20-micron filter and built-in ozone sterilization, which the Features tab says keeps water cleaner for longer and cuts maintenance. Two filter cartridges and a wrench come in the box, and a replacement cartridge 6-pack is available on the Accessories selector when you need spares.
