DuraVent DuraChimney II 16 inch Kit Builder: choose a whole chimney on one page
The DuraVent DuraChimney II 16 inch Kit Builder is a page for choosing a complete 16 inch fireplace chimney. Build it here without visiting separate parts pages. There is no base price, just the parts you choose. DuraChimney II is DuraVent’s air cooled chimney, a double wall pipe in 8 to 16 inch sizes for fireplaces that burn wood, oil, coal, or gas. This is the largest size. It must match your fireplace’s flue collar, the opening where the chimney connects. The fireplace maker must approve DuraChimney II.
Choose at least one pipe section, 12, 18, 36, or 48 inches long, and the quantity of each. Optional fixed 15 or 30 degree elbows are sold individually. Two make a sideways shift, but no pipe can run horizontally. Add supports, shields, flashing, and a cap as needed. The chimney normally sits inside a chase, a framed box with 2 inches of air space around the pipe. Flashing covers the chase top while leaving ventilation gaps. Need pipe separately? See the DuraVent DuraChimney II 8 to 16 inch Chimney Pipe. The DuraVent DuraChimney II 16 inch Kit Builder ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.

FAQ
How does the 16-inch DuraChimney II Customize your Kit page work?
The listing has no base price; you choose the parts and the selector totals them. The 16-inch Length of Chimney Pipe row is required (12, 18, 36 or 48 inch sections, any quantity), the Elbow row adds 15 or 30 degree offsets, and the Build Your Chimney Kit row holds the anchor plates, firestop spacer, shields, chase top flashing and collar, storm collar, cap, Bishop copper adapter and snow splitter.
What kind of fireplace uses a 16-inch DuraChimney II?
The largest wood, oil, coal or gas fireplaces with a 16-inch flue collar whose manual names DuraChimney II as an approved chimney. It is the biggest DuraChimney II diameter, a unitized double-wall air-cooled system listed to UL 103 and ULC S604 and rated for continuous 1000 F flue gas, with a 430 stainless inner and galvanized outer wall.
How is a tall 16-inch chimney supported?
Use a Wall Strap every 8 feet, a Supplementary Support once the total height passes 50 feet (each support carries 25 feet of chimney) and a Stabilizer clamped to the pipe to keep it centered in the chase. The Anchor Plate carries the base, and the Elbow Strap supports any offset. Sections twist-lock together, so screws are not normally required.
How much pipe should I order?
Measure from the anchor plate to the top, subtract 1 inch per joint, and keep to DuraVent’s minimum of 10 to 15 feet of chimney above the fireplace outlet, adding 30 to 60 percent at altitude or with elbows. The cap must end at least 3 feet above the roof penetration and 2 feet higher than any part of the building within 10 feet.
Can I use a chimney-top damper or a copper pot on this size?
Both are on the page: the Anchor Plate with Damper, which DuraVent says to use only where the fireplace manufacturer permits, and the European Copper Bishop Adapter for a decorative copper pot termination (the King adapter is not offered in 16 inch). The copper-pot instructions are linked in the Instructions tab. Smaller collars are covered in the DuraChimney II category.
What clearance and firestopping apply?
Keep 2 inches of air space to combustibles and run the chimney in an enclosed chase. Fit a Firestop Spacer at every floor and ceiling, an Attic Insulation Shield through an attic, a Roof Radiation Shield where the chimney exits the chase, and the Chase Top Flashing with a 1/2-inch air gap, then the Storm Collar and Chimney Cap. Follow local codes and have the installation inspected.
