DuraVent DuraFlex Aluminum Kit Builder: choose your chimney liner and parts on one page
The DuraVent DuraFlex Aluminum Kit Builder is a page for assembling a chimney liner order. You can choose the liner and the parts your job needs together, rather than shopping separate pages. DuraFlex Aluminum is DuraVent’s flexible aluminum liner for relining a masonry chimney that vents a gas appliance. It puts a new pipe inside an existing brick or block chimney. Start with a diameter: 3, 4, 5, 5 1/2, 6, 7, or 8 inches. Sizing follows the appliance outlet, the vent pipe entering the chimney, or fuel gas code tables. Choose the length to suit the chimney’s height.
Then select at least one item from that size’s Build your Kit row. Your selections make up the total price, with no base charge. The complete kit contains 25 feet of liner, a cap, a top plate, and a mortar sleeve for the chimney entry. The bottom connection to the appliance’s vent pipe is selected separately. Every installation also needs a flex puller, which guides the liner down the chimney. Neither the puller nor its rope comes in the kit. Prefer the four basics together? FAQ
How does the DuraFlex Aluminum Customize your Kit page work?
Choose the liner diameter first (3 to 8 inches), then tick what you need from that size’s Build your Kit row: the complete Aluminum Kit, an extra Aluminum Length, couplings, a Hanger Bracket, Tee with Cap, Top Plate, Cap, Female Flex Adapter, Universal B-vent Adapter, Mortar Sleeve or Flex Puller. At least one item must be selected; each line shows its price.
Which appliances can use an aluminum liner?
Natural gas or propane Category I appliances with a draft hood, and appliances listed to use Type B gas vent: gas fireplaces, gas furnaces, boilers, water heaters and wall or space heaters. DuraVent’s instructions exclude solid-fuel, oil, combination and conversion-burner appliances and Category II, III and IV condensing appliances; those need a stainless liner or a special gas vent.
What clearance and height limits apply?
DuraFlex AL is listed to UL 1777 and ULC S635 at zero clearance to the masonry, protecting the chimney from flue-gas condensation. The gas vent chart on the page rates it to 50 feet in 3 to 6 inch sizes; taller runs follow DuraVent’s sizing handbook. Size the liner to the appliance outlet and the vent tables in the fuel gas code.
How high above the roof does the termination go?
With a listed Type B cap the page’s termination chart applies: 1 foot above the roof for pitches flat to 7/12, rising to 4 feet at 12/12 and higher on steeper roofs. The liner ends at the Top Plate on the chimney crown; the cap fits the plate. The Mortar Sleeve and Universal B-vent Adapter let the liner connect to B vent or a masonry thimble at the bottom.
What are the adapters and hanger bracket for?
The Female Flex Adapter and Universal B-vent Adapter join the flex to rigid Type B vent or the appliance connector, the Coupling joins two flex lengths, the Mortar Sleeve seals the liner where it enters the masonry, the Flex Puller draws the liner down the flue and the Hanger Bracket hangs the flex from the top of the enclosure. Ready-made kits are in the DuraFlex Aluminum category.
